Man on Fire has been turned into a TV series on Netflix. I’m not here to disparage something I haven’t see, but I have one question: why? Just…why? Why touch Denzel & Tony? You think you can play The Beatles better than The Beatles? Please can we get more new stories around here
What a mess so far for the CBS team. Missing shots, random holes/shot show from people not even in the picture, zero story of Burns double on 2. Come on
Jordan Spieth:
- hits his drive way right into the trees
- chips it out from off a tree root
- slips on his approach shot
- holes a bomb for birdie
So standard
The cut matters, part 326.
The last five holes of this Rory round are must see because he could absolutely go 65-66 on the weekend to scare the leaders, but he has to actually get to the weekend to do that. It makes each day feel more important instead of making the first three rounds feel like just a mechanism for getting to the last nine holes of the tournament.
@JoelMBeall The proper idiom is rather "you can't eat your cake and have it, too."
Most of us have just been using the wrong idiom and so it seems like it doesn't make sense
@DJPie Do you think the presidents cup puts the Americans at a disadvantage with regards to the Ryder Cup because the US has one more thing to worry about and there are different people in charge of both team competitions?
As much as it hurts for the US to lose on home soil, Sundays performance shed a ray of light that the gap between the US & Europe is not as big as we feared. A change in course set up & changing a few pairings probably would have resulted in a US win. Learn & get ready for 2027!
I think I've been radicalized this weekend.
I don't think this is primarily a putting problem, a setup problem, or even really a captain problem. It seems like it's a thousand little details, which means it's primarily an *organizational* problem.
One side's whole is consistently greater than the sum of its parts, and the other's is consistently not. That goes way deeper than putting, setup or the captain, though all of those are certainly emblematic of the root issue.
Home crowd is supposed to be a huge advantage and so far it’s not. US play isn’t helping, but hard not to wonder about correlation between tameness and $1000 ticket prices. Could be one of the most unnecessary self-owns in Ryder Cup history
I think it's fine for American players to want to share in the revenue from the Ryder Cup instead of letting it go to the PGA of America's shadowy balance sheet and it is not their fault Euros know it would probably bankrupt the DP World Tour if they asked for the same deal.
Wyndham Clark's suspension from Oakmont can be reinstated contingent upon full repayment of damages, making a meaningful contribution to a charity of the club's choice, and completing counseling and/or anger management sessions. 😳

I love scores closer to par. What I don’t love is turning every missed fairway into a hack-and-hope. Penal, not punishing. Reward precision, but don’t punish humanity. #GolfCourseDesign#USOpenVibes#PGA#Oakmont
