His mother has been identified as Shauntai Nickerson.

I located these photographs on Facebook, including one showing Griffin alongside his mother.

$TAO releases Null Consensus upgrade.

This update raises subnet participant limits from 256 to 2,500.

Prior to this upgrade, Yuma Consensus was the default.

Under Yuma, multiple validators scored miners. The protocol then compared those scores against the stake-weighted score. If a validator scored higher than the stake-weighted score, the protocol clipped the score to match it; if lower, it remained untouched.

But under this mechanism, subnet capacity was limited.

Null consensus is a new 'optional' system.

Subnet owners can choose to switch from Yuma to Null at their behest.

Under Yuma, multiple validators together decided how much reward each miner gets.

Under Null, the participant with the largest stake becomes the validator. Only they can submit weights, and miner rewards are decided based on those weights.

The protocol benefits in the following ways with this change:

> More scale: Subnets can now bring in more miners. It will lead to more competition, more compute, and a chance to make better AI models.

> Speed and simplicity: Consensus and bond calculations have been removed, which allows managing a larger network easily.

> Precise rewards: Even small reward ratios can be accurately distributed.

> Lower entry barrier: PoW registration allows more users (especially AI agents) to join without spending any TAO.

> Flexibility: Subnet owners have the choice to go with a smaller secure version (Yuma), or the larger and simple version (Null).

The trade-off is the centralization risk. A single large stake validator can decide miner rewards now.
