The beauty of @letterboxd:
People will look at my last 4 and think "12/20, average rating of 3, which means average movies".
Last two = great fun.
Aporia = Great idea, just falls short.
Hitcher II: Unnecessary sequel, with real fun moments.
Basically, all delivered something.
Did you know the wife’s Rolex in Die Hard is the most important symbol in the film?
She receives the Rolex as recognition for her corporate work away from her husband. Her cocaine boss tells her to flaunt the Rolex to her husband the cop. She won’t because she’s embarrassed by it (she’s redeemable).
At the end, Hans Gruber is holding on to her wrist by means of her new Rolex. He’s pulling her to her death and pointing a gun at her. The husband sees this and unlatches the Rolex causing Hans to fall to his death. Watch carefully: BOTH the Rolex and Hans fall.
John McClane literally saves his wife’s life by unshackling her wrist from her corporate slave wage job and restores her as his wife.
Very based. A family is reunited on Christmas. So yes, Die Hard is a Christmas movie.
Did what it was supposed to do, Bateman is more than worth the ticket price, and it got the Christmas tension thrills flowing.
That said, it should have ended 2 minutes earlier for perfection.
My ★★★½ review of Carry-On on Letterboxd https://t.co/YxhwKktTJE
4.5 years ago, I'd never seen THE HITCHER.
It was in season 1 of our podcast and still, to this day, is probably my favourite "new to me" movie we've covered.
I've waited a long time to see it in all of the 4Ks and now it's time.
@SecondSightFilm knocked it out the park.
Mission Impossible has got bigger for sure, but the first outing is right up there with one of my favourites.
So we'll made, great cast, and the way the first act set up basically throws in a huge curveball with the cast - I love it.
This scene in the first Mission:Impossible is as good as anything in the series.
Jim telling Ethan that Kittridge is the mole. Ethan conveying to Jim that he believes him whilst simultaneously connecting the dots in his mind, even backtracking to factor in Claire's involvement.
I'm finally Region Free (for Blu-ray).
Thanks to everyone at @AVForums for the idiot proof guide and links.
Now to celebrate in style with one my Region A's.
