SO I arranged Answers from #ffxiv for brass band.
A dream of mine!
Here’s a snippet of us working on it last night!
Endwalker friends will recognize the quicker theme.
Imagine telling a professional musician that they don’t know what instrument they are playing and actually it’s something different
☝️🤡 “that’s not a euphonium” no shit sherlock, did I say it was?
I play both baritone and euphonium professionally I think I know the difference
I’m heading to FanFest this weekend and while packing all my FFXIV merch I go “Wow….I’m really into this game huh?”
Brother I forgot I literally have Midgarsormr tattooed on me.
Dudebros on facebook mansplaining what a baritone is to me.
Sir, that’s me in the video. I’m playing the horn you’re arguing with me about. I’m being gaslit about baritone horns actually being tenor horns???
@NickSotS My undergrad was like that too. I got my bachelors in music ed! And I appreciated it greatly! But yeah....don't get me started on music degrees I have MANY thoughts
If you want to be successful, music has to be an obsession. It really does.
"What's the point of being a musician if you dread picking up the horn, if you feel nothing when you perform?"
If you are OBSESSED with music those things simply WILL NOT happen.
@NickSotS Oh you are so right! So many people just want to be band directors and don't understand HOW MUCH ELSE goes into the gig!
I love teaching, but I can't have that be my entire career!!
If you find yourself feeling those negative feelings (and they're not caused by outside stressors like major health issues) I would genuinely suggest looking into another CAREER. Keep playing. Find something else to make money with. Or you will grow to resent it and yourself.
I have never once dreaded playing. I have never once not wanted to practice (once I figured out HOW to practice)
I have never once hated playing the horn. I have never once felt nothing while performing or playing at all for that matter.
I am OBSESSED. I LOVE music. MAKING music.
Hiya! I am going to MAGFest!!
If anyone needs a trombone player for anything at all lemme know!! I'll have my horn and I am dying to play with any and all of you. <3
People demand culture in their cities; breweries, live music, art, vendors, small festivals. They deserve the culture. But the people supplying that culture (musicians, artists, service workers) need to be paid enough to live comfortably
