The Strongest Nations Are Not Those That Avoid Trials, But Those That Grow Through Them.

A Cinematic Essay by Abraham Gebremichael

"Storms reveal strength. Calm reveals character."

Every nation encounters storms.

Some arrive with thunder.

Others arrive in silence.

They wear different names: war, isolation, hardship, uncertainty, drought, economic struggle, but they all ask the same question.

What kind of people will remain when the sky clears?

No nation chooses every storm that reaches its shores.

But every nation chooses what it becomes after the rain.

A storm is never the final chapter.

It is only the page that separates one generation's struggle from another generation's opportunity.

History remembers those who endured.

The future belongs to those who rebuild.

There comes a morning when the wind grows quiet.

The waves settle.

The clouds begin to break.

The first light touches the mountains once again.

Not as a promise that hardship never existed,
but as a reminder that hardship never has the final word.

That is where a nation's greatest work begins.

The farmer returns to the field with seeds instead of fear.

The fisherman casts his nets into calm waters.

The engineer rebuilds bridges that connect people rather than divide them.

The teacher opens another classroom.

The doctor heals another life.

The scientist asks another question.

The entrepreneur unlocks another workshop.

Children once again fill schoolyards with laughter.

Young trees take root where the earth once carried scars.

Quietly.

Almost unnoticed.

Hope begins rebuilding the nation one ordinary day at a time.

Because nations are not renewed by speeches alone.

They are renewed by millions of ordinary acts carried out with extraordinary determination.

A nation does not become great because it never suffered.

It becomes great because suffering never became its identity.

Its identity becomes resilience.

Its character becomes perseverance.

Its purpose becomes renewal.

Storms pass.

Character remains.

And character is revealed not only in how a people endure hardship but in how they transform hardship into opportunity.

Every bridge rebuilt.

Every classroom opened.

Every fishing boat returned to sea.

Every tree planted.

Every child encouraged to dream.

Is another victory over the storm.

Perhaps that is the greatest victory any nation can achieve.

"The greatest victory is not surviving the storm.
It is becoming the nation the storm could not prevent".

A nation that chooses hope over despair.

Wisdom over bitterness.

Builders over destroyers.

Tomorrow over yesterday.

Because storms eventually pass.

But what a people builds after the storm
can endure for generations.

The strongest nations are not remembered
because they escaped every trial.

They are remembered because every
trial gave them another reason to rise.

Another reason to build.

Another reason to believe.

The sea grows calm.

The sun rises.

Children walk toward tomorrow.

And a nation continues its journey, not because the storm spared it,

but because its people refused to let the storm define it.

THE STORM HAS PASSED.
NOW LET THE FUTURE BEGIN.

8th Annual NCEA Conference underway in Dallas, Texas, under the theme: " Firm Foundation, Forward in Vision".

Keynote address by Mr. Yosuf Saiq, Head of PFDJ Organizational Affairs, on current situation at home within the context of unfolding regional and global developments and trends; and, remarks on organizational matters by Mr. Berhane Ghebrehiwot, Charge d 'Affairs at the Eritrean Embassy in the US.

Annual Activity Reports by the youth and women segments of NCE; discussion papers on the experience, foresight and vision of the EPLF on education; ownership of national narrative as an element of strategic communication are some of the main events conducted so far in the ongoing four-day Conference.
