Ross County Football Club are delighted to share that our long-serving groundsman, Davie Fraser, has been recognised by ProPitch and the SPFL, earning the “Highly Commended Pitch of the Year” award in the Scottish Championship for the 2025/26 season.
Ross County CEO Steven Ferguson said: “This award is no less than Davie deserves for the outstanding job he is doing at Ross County.
“Knowing Davie, he wouldn't thank you much at all for the praise, but I can't state enough how grateful we all are to have had him looking after our pitch for the last 30 years.
“Davie does an unbelievable job, and in all weathers makes sure our park is in top condition.
"Not many could match the care, attention to detail and work ethic that Davie provides for the club.
“I think it is important to note that the other three clubs picking up awards are all hybrid pitches, with teams of multiple ground staff looking after their pitch, whereas Davie is very much a team of one, working on a traditional grass playing surface.
“Well done, Davie, a true club legend!”

A 3-0 win for the young #staggies this afternoon!
Goals coming from our Stornoway boys with Sam Maclennan grabbing two, and Cole Lamb getting the other!
Terrific result and performance, well done!
Special mention today must go to our Ross County U17 boys from Stornoway, Cole Lamb and Sam Maclennan, who got on the scoresheet in today’s win over Airdrie 👏⚽️
These lads show incredible dedication week in, week out - making long journeys, hopping on ferries, and putting in the hard work just to train and represent the club.
That level of commitment takes a lot of effort and energy from the boys and their families, and that doesn’t go unnoticed!
A great feat adding to what is an already strong affinity between Ross County Football Club and the Western Isles, after a successful week of our community team running Easter football courses for children from across the Hebrides!
Today’s goals are a well-deserved reward for everything they put in behind the scenes.
Well done Cole and Sam! 🙌
Our under 17s defeated Kelty Hearts 2-0 today!
The lads earned their first clean sheet of season, with goals coming from Sam Maclennan and Aaron Maclellan.
Well done, boys!

"I have learnt more about the game & coaching from arising situations & the players, than from any website, course, book or other coach bar Marco Rose (due to daily work together). Favorite advice in hindsight: Work for, talk with & listen to your players."

This is becoming major issue. Scots kids are nicked for buttons by big English clubs but if we continue not to bring kids through and play them what’s ‘Scottish’ about our football. Time for a quota of home reared players in every starting eleven. I’d say 4/5 per team.
