Hands up all those who think @BorisJohnson is well placed to lecture anyone else on upholding standards & admitting mistakes.
As I said this morning on @bbcr4today “it’s clear that there is a genuine concern about editorial standards and mistakes. There is also a political campaign by people who want to destroy the organisation…Both things are happening at the same time”
@elonmusk monoplies are why we have anti trust so that when a company or companies get too big a share of the market they can be broken up.... discuss 😁
Every child should have the opportunity to develop passions that enrich their lives and learn skills needed for a successful career.
The curriculum will reflect this: raising standards in subjects like Maths and English, whilst recognising the importance of creative subjects.
That's how we build a Britain for all.
@afneil Sorry Mr Neil, are you ignorant of the facts or knowingly conflating stopping the boats with accepting asylum seekers. Are you really telling us that you don't believe you can both reduce people arriving by boat and still take asylum seekers in an orderly fashion?
This speech should terrify anyone who cares about our country.
Declaring war on our nation’s cities and using our troops as political pawns is what dictators do.
This man cares about nothing but his own ego and power.
@afneil Politicians make the law. We all including them need to obey law and we are all protected by the law. Judges apply the law. All lawyers do is ask judges to apply the law for their clients. If you don't like the law take it up with the politicians not the judges or the lawyers.
THE defection of @danny__kruger is a body blow to the Tories. He is a politician of real substance; a deeply thoughtful man who never seeks the limelight. Unusual in frontline politics!
@JamesCleverly Far be it from me to give you or your leader advice but perhaps if your leader had been 'working the tea rooms' you wouldn't have had your shadow ministers jumping ship to reform. Do you agree with your ex shadow minister that torys are finished?
This weekend there were people in my community who were afraid to go into London and are considering whether the country they were born into is safe for them because of their colour or creed.
We can’t look the other way.
This - 🏴 - belongs to all of us, not just some of us.
@afneil Are you suggesting rule by politician over the rule of law (courts)? We choose politicians. Politicians make law. Lawyers advocate for their clients. Judges apply the law. Politicians obey the law. That's quite important.. please have a care before you advocate anything else.
@afneil Next election aug 2029. Labour has large majority so no chance of early election unless pm wants one. Gov is doing well given the legacy. 4 years from now is when they will be judged and by the british electorate not by v rich media owners or, sorry Mr Neil, their paid staff.
Nothing seems to rile Nigel Farage up quite like being asked about his tax affairs.
He's been happy to talk about others, but can't stand being asked about his own.
What has he got to hide?
Signing off, full of pride, after a busy first day back at the Department for Education.
The changes we’ve made will make a real difference to family finances and children’s life chances – and there’s more to come.
Despite the noise from Reform the Labour government is delivering for working people.
We are banning exploitative measures in zero-hours contracts. Reform want to keep them as they are.
Labour promised to deliver better conditions and we are.
