I’ve received so many birthday wishes throughout the day… Thank you everyone. I’ve thought about these words for a long time and I really want to share them with you all!

Truth be told, when I was little, I was really bad at expressing my feelings. I even wondered if I had some kind of barrier in emotional connections, haha. That’s why I rarely cried. The only few times I cried were when I was really young, because I couldn’t buy a toy I liked, lol.

To be honest, even right after debut, I still didn’t know how to express my emotions well. I’d stay behind the other members, watch how they communicated with fans, and try to imitate them.

But as time went by, I slowly learned what love means. Not the kind kept locked inside, but love that is truly spoken out. Not everyone can read your mind, after all. So I learned to express and share my genuine heart. It felt awkward at first, yet I found that saying it out loud makes such a big difference.

Gradually I realized, it wasn’t that I didn’t know what love was — I just didn’t know how to show it. Through all the time spent with you, you’ve taught me so much. You constantly show me how much you love and care for me. Every time I hear you say that, I’m genuinely happy. Of course, sometimes some people get hurt or upset because of me, and I blame myself and get stuck in overthinking. I wonder if the love I show is still not enough?

Yesterday at the event, I was asked what changed the most about me over these years. I thought long about it but didn’t say it, and just brushed it off with a joke. But what I really wanted to say is: you taught me how to express, how to love. That’s why I always tell you, if you have love in your heart, speak it out loud. If you’re shy, expressing it through jokes works too, that’s what I often do. But hiding feelings and speaking them out are worlds apart. So I want to tell you this:

Thank you for teaching me to bravely express how much I love you. This is the most important lesson you’ve given me in life!

I feel so, so lucky with my life right now, and I know it. That’s why I only share good news and keep hardships to myself. I will never show you my vulnerable side, because I hate seeing you worry about me.

I believe I’m strong and optimistic enough, so nothing can break me.

I hope whenever you see me, your Name, you will only see joy and happiness. That’s the third wish I kept deep inside for this birthday.
