Whatever your opinions of Starmer, there's nothing democratic or ''British'' about the way he's been forced out of office.
Not for the first time I feel ashamed of our political system.
Labour loses my vote if they don’t stop pfaffing with the leadership nonsense. There’s work to do and right now @Keir_Starmer seems to be the only one who gets that.
There were two tiers of possible response to the express wishes of Henry Nowak's dignified family in the light of his traumatic murder. One humane and empathetic, the other inhumane and exploitative. This version of "Lyin' Eyes" (Eagles) is for @JDVance and those in the second.
@adders281@DeborahMeaden Pathetic to exploit this situation. ICE shot their own citizens dead because they could.. Hampshire police made a terrible mistake but did not kill anyone not did they contribute to the death.
Victoria Derbyshire, "Keir Starmer telling Nigel Farage he has exploited the Henry Nowak case, is he right?"
Telegraphs' Annabel Denham, "Err, no, I don't think the PM is right"
Labour's Tom Hayes, "I'm just shocked by that, you've got a grieving family going through some of the worst experience anyone can ever know, and they've called on Nigel Farage not to exploit the death of their boy; and he literally did that in the House of Commons"
"Nigel Farage was given the opportunity to condemn the violence, which he himself incited, by calling for protests. He could have condemned the violence"
Annabel Denham, "Do you truly believe that the people in Southampton would have not taken to the streets in response to that sickening footage?"
Tom Hayes, "I spoke to the Southampton MP, the vast majority of people in their city protesting, came from outside Southampton"
"On top of that, Nigel Farage said this evening that there will be more to come"
@ahmedsohail I know they’re not all vile.. but neither were Germans in the 30s when they supported the nationalist/fascist agenda because they were looking for scapegoats.. I just feel some want to seem reasonable you don’t attend these rallies if you just want communities to integrate..
‘You have done a better job than any cabinet minister of telling us the story of Keir Starmer’s successes.’
As Wes Streeting resigns, Caller Martin reminds @TomSwarbrick1 of what the PM has delivered.
If Labour MPs detonate this government, the calls for an early general election will be immediate.
Reform will claim that whoever succeeds Starmer will be illegitimate, because they didn’t win the election.
The media will hound them, as relentlessly as they have Starmer, and the cycle continues.
This all plays into Reform’s hands. It’s exactly what they want.
'It's a bit like what is happening in football - everyone hates them if they haven't had immense success within five games.'
@Baddiel tells Sky's @cathynewman that 'a normal bloke or woman that is ok to lead the country, is not good enough anymore' in today's culture.
I’m a Starmer bitter-ender. For the simple small-D democratic reason that he won a national mandate and his term isn’t up.
I don’t understand this notion that bad local election results mean the prime minister should resign.
@scarbro8@jessicaelgot Agree.. so disappointing. All journalists seem to be doing atm is posting or reading out secrets texts they get from “one cabinet minister” or “junior member of the cabinet”… gossip and no stories..
@halcyonorder@robboluvsqpr@Gordy_Mc1ntosh@FredThomasUK Jeremy Corbyn was never a PM of a country in crisis, he wanted us out of EU and so very clearly bad for this country. Ousting Starmer now will only bring more chaos and instability, cost and chance for dangerous GE.. this isn’t personal can we please grow up and get a grip.
