Additionally, democracy is far more similar to a market economy than monarchy. In monarchy, all political power is controlled by the king, making it analogous to a monopoly. In democracy, political power is decentralized among competing parties, making it analogous to the market.

In democracy, when enough of the populace is against a regime, the regime is replaced peacefully via the ballot box. In monarchy, the only option the populace has to replace the regime is via violent conflict. This is why monarchies are more prone to civil wars than democracies.
