This Fourth of July, we wish the United States of America a happy 250th birthday alongside our usual celebrations of independence! Celebrate safely and enjoy the holiday!
This summer, remember to be alert, be prepared and do your part to prevent wildfires and protect yourself and loved ones.
Practice fire safety this wildfire season and have an evacuation plan practiced and ready with your family.
We hope you have a safe and fun Fourth of July!
Reading is the foundation for everything that follows.
At the Western Governors’ Association Annual Meeting, Abby led a panel about how states can improve early literacy and help more children read on grade level.
Utah is tackling this through the science of reading, stronger classroom instruction, and a shared recognition that families play an important role in helping children build strong literacy skills.
We have to get this right.
One of the stories that continues to guide us forward is the voyage of the Hōkūleʻa.
Today, as we look toward the next 250 years of America, Hōkūleʻa reminds us that innovation doesn’t always mean something new — sometimes it means rediscovering what has always guided us.
Wildfires are a year-round risk in Hawaiʻi and the dry conditions of summer exacerbate the risk. Practice fire safety this wildfire season and have an evacuation plan practiced and ready with your family.
Health doesn't begin in a doctor's office. It begins where we live, learn, work and play.
As Chair of the @westgov, I'm launching Health Beyond Healthcare
Working alongside fellow Western governors, the initiative will help advance practical, bipartisan solutions that strengthen communities across the region.
Governor Josh Green has officially assumed the chairmanship of the Western Governors' Association (@westgov), a bipartisan organization representing the governors of 22 Western states and U.S. Pacific territories.
Over the next year, Governor Green will lead the association's work on Health Beyond Healthcare, an initiative focused on improving mental health by expanding access to care while addressing the broader factors that shape health and well-being.
In celebration of Hawaiʻiʻs history and the 250th anniversary of the adoption of the Declaration of Independence, Governors Josh Green, John Waiheʻe, Ben Cayetano, Neil Abercrombie and David Ige gathered at the Hawai‘i State Capitol to peruse the constitutions of Hawaiʻi…
I also signed a bill that allows digital identification to be used when you’re asked to provide identification and a bill that will help humanely control the feral chicken population.
Another big bill this week continues protections on Hawaiian Homelands, expanding access for Native Hawaiians. Leases can now be transferred to the children of siblings.
I’ve been signing some important bills this week, HB1800/SB2500 (Budget Bill) is especially notable. It focuses on our priorities while preserving all of the tax breaks for working people, up to $400,000 for families and up to around $204,000 for single filers.
Today Governor Green signed a bill for DHHL to expand homestead access for Native Hawaiian families.
DHHL homestead leases can now be transferred to or succeeded by a lessee's sibling’s child given they are 1/4 Native Hawaiian.
As a result, most residents will continue to receive lower state income taxes through 2031.
A new 13% tax bracket will apply only to the highest earners — households making more than $1 million annually, or single filers earning more than $500,000.
