Yesterday, I was honoured alongside H.E. Joseph Nyuma Boakai, President of the Republic of Liberia, and H.E. Jeremiah Kpan Koung, Vice President of Liberia, at the Golden Image Awards held at the Ministerial Complex in Monrovia, Liberia.

The prestigious event, attended by top government functionaries of the Liberian government, was a celebration of service, leadership, and impact.

I sincerely appreciate the organizers for this recognition.

To the good people of Taraba State, I dedicate this award to you. It is a testament to our shared commitment to service and the advancement of humanity.

Peace is the foundation of progress. That is why today in Jalingo, we inaugurated the Taraba State Security Advisory Committee at the Banquet Hall of TY Danjuma House.

This committee has one clear mandate: to help us build a smarter, faster, and more responsive security system for Taraba.

I tasked members to prioritize intelligence-driven policing, strengthen early warning mechanisms, work closely with our communities, prevent conflicts before they start, and bridge the gap between government, security agencies, and citizens.

We are leaving no stone unturned in our commitment to make Taraba safe for residents, farmers, traders, students, and visitors alike.

A safe Taraba is a prosperous Taraba.

Yesterday, I hosted a reconciliation dinner with APC stakeholders in Taraba State.

I described the gathering as a 'family meeting' — a moment to reflect, speak sincerely, heal, and prepare for the responsibilities ahead as we approach the 2027 general elections.

During our engagement, I acknowledged that the recent congresses and primaries produced different outcomes. Some members felt hurt, overlooked, or excluded. I expressed sincere regret for any pain caused.

Our goal was never to suppress ambition, but to protect the party and Taraba State from division.

It was heartwarming to see everyone agree that we are 'One Family' and that we will work together to secure victory. Let us forgive one another, rebuild trust, and move forward without leaving anyone behind.

I received today, a delegation from the Nigerian Navy Headquarters, led by the Chief of Administration, Rear Admiral Jonathan Nwunuji Mamman.

The delegation is in Taraba State on an assessment mission for the proposed establishment of a Naval Base in Kashimbila, Takum Local Government Area.

During our engagement, I described the proposed Naval Base as a landmark intervention that will significantly strengthen security across Taraba State. The presence of the Navy will complement the efforts of other security agencies in safeguarding lives and property, not only in Taraba but across the entire Northeast region.

Taraba is blessed with extensive waterways that require dedicated protection. The establishment of this Naval Base will enhance our state’s security architecture and consolidate our administration’s commitment to sustaining peace and stability.

In Taraba State, the security of lives and property remains our topmost priority.

Earlier today at the Banquet Hall, TY Danjuma House, Jalingo, I swore in new appointees into key positions across board.

The list includes the TSIEC Chairman and Members, Solicitor-General/Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Justice, Commissioner, LGSC, Members of the Anti-Corruption Commission, and several Special Advisers, SSAs, and SAs.

In my address, I charged all newly appointed Special Advisers, Senior Special Assistants, and Special Assistants to transform their offices into hubs of innovation and productivity. They must understand their mandates clearly and deliver measurable results that impact the people.

Yesterday, I joined top APC stakeholders and other eminent personalities at the official inauguration of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (PBAT) Door-to-Door Movement National Executives and a public lecture at Transcorp Hilton, Abuja.

The event marked a renewed commitment to grassroots mobilisation and strengthening the party’s connection with the people.

As part of our commitment to deepening inter-governmental cooperation and strengthening partnerships with key federal institutions, I paid a courtesy and familiarisation visit to the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Taiwo Oyedele, in Abuja.

The visit provided an opportunity to congratulate the Minister on his appointment and to further strengthen the cordial relationship between the Taraba State Government and the Federal Ministry of Finance.

We will continue to collaborate with the Ministry to advance programmes and policies that will drive economic development, attract investment, improve internally generated revenue, and enhance the wellbeing of the people of Taraba State.

Yesterday, the Northern Nigeria Governors’ Forum and the Northern Traditional Rulers’ Council held a joint meeting focused on the pressing security challenges facing the region, at the Sir Kashim Ibrahim House, Kaduna.

After extensive deliberations with key security stakeholders, we resolved as follows:

Urgent Action Required:
The Forum declares that Northern Nigeria’s security crisis demands urgent, coordinated, and decisive action to prevent further collapse.

Support for State Police:
We acknowledge progress on the establishment of State Police and commend President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the National Assembly for initiating the constitutional process. With proper training, equipment, and support, State Police will be critical to addressing the region’s security challenges.

Northern Nigeria Security Trust Fund:
We express confidence in the newly inaugurated Board of Trustees of the Northern Nigeria Security Trust Fund. We urge them to serve with diligence, integrity, and independence.

We commend member states for committing ₦1 Billion monthly to the Fund and urge prompt fulfillment of all pledges.

We call on traditional rulers, civil society, the media, and citizens to support the Board in delivering on its mandate.

Addressing Root Causes:
The Forum resolves to tackle the root causes of insecurity: poverty, illiteracy, unemployment, and the high number of out-of-school children. Security operations must be matched with investment in education, agriculture, youth empowerment, skills development, and livelihoods.

Today in Kebbi State, First Term Governors met in the spirit of patriotism, responsibility, accountability, and national duty.

We acknowledge the sacrifices Nigerians have made during this period of economic adjustment.
In that light, we declare our total support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and for the continuity of the Renewed Hope Agenda beyond 2027.

We make this declaration as a commitment to national recovery, shared prosperity, democratic stability, and the protection of the Nigerian federation.

As First Term Governors seeking renewed mandates from our people, we recognize that our support for the President must be matched by performance in our states.

We will not merely ask Nigerians to support the President. We will give Nigerians reasons to believe— by working harder, delivering visible results, and ensuring that federal reforms translate into tangible benefits at the grassroots.

We believe the task before Nigeria is bigger than one election. It is about the future of our country. It is about protecting democracy, securing our communities, feeding our people, creating jobs for our youth, and ensuring that the sacrifices of today become the prosperity of tomorrow.

Today, I joined other dignitaries at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Nukkai, Jalingo for the Nigerian Army Day Celebration Inter-denominational Thanksgiving Service.

We gathered to honour the courage and sacrifice of the officers and men of the Nigerian Army. Their unwavering commitment to defending our nation’s territorial integrity and protecting lives and property remains the bedrock of our peace and security.

In his homily, “Military Service: A Prophetic Call to Safeguard the Nation,” Very Rev. Fr. Ephraim Sani described military service as a divine calling. He likened soldiers to modern-day prophets — sent to protect, rescue, and preserve society.

The Nigerian Army stands for unity. It is a pillar of peacekeeping at home and a symbol of national strength. My administration will continue to support the Nigerian Army and all lawful security agencies as we work to sustain peace, security, and stability across Taraba State.

Not long ago, I was joined by the Honourable Minister of State for Regional Development, Uba Maigari Ahmadu; Sen. Haruna Manu; Sen. Shuaibu Isa Lau; Hon. Ayuba Zaku Dampar; Hon. Sadiq Abass Tafida; and other distinguished stakeholders from Taraba State to receive formal recognition of our application.

The recognition is for the proposed University of Agriculture, Tropical Science and Climate Action, TSU-TASCA, to be sited in Gembu, Sardauna Local Government Area.

The Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission [NUC] described the approval as a significant milestone. He noted that the university will drive agricultural innovation, tropical science, climate action, research, and sustainable development — for Taraba, Nigeria, and Africa.

As part of ongoing efforts to enhance regional security and deepen inter-state collaboration, I paid a strategic visit today to my Nasarawa State counterpart, H.E. Engr. Abdullahi Sule, at the Government House in Lafia, Nasarawa State.

This high-level meeting focused on strengthening border security between Taraba and Nasarawa States. Both teams deliberated on practical measures to improve intelligence sharing, enhance joint security coordination, and safeguard lives, property, and economic activities along our shared boundaries.

I re-emphasised that security remains the cornerstone of my administration’s development agenda. Sustained collaboration with neighbouring states is essential to protecting lives and property, promoting economic activities, and ensuring lasting peace and stability across our region.

Today, I received Major General Dangana Alu, Commandant of the Martin Luther Agwai International Leadership and Peacekeeping Centre, Jaji, Kaduna State.

Our discussions were productive and forward-looking. I reaffirmed Taraba State Government’s commitment to partner with the Centre in deepening peacebuilding and leadership capacity development across our communities.

In Taraba, we are convinced that no meaningful development can happen without peace. That is why our resolve to secure our people, foster unity, and drive sustainable growth remains absolute.

We look forward to a strong, results-driven partnership with the Centre.

I arrived in the Ekiti State capital today to commence work as Chairman of the APC Security Committee ahead of the 2026 Governorship Election scheduled for Saturday, 20th June 2026.

Our mandate is clear: to strengthen party structures and establish a security framework that ensures a peaceful, orderly, and credible election for all Ekiti citizens.

The best of our state is not behind us. It is ahead of us. Democracy has given us the tools. Now, we must use them to build a Taraba that is safe, prosperous, and fair to all.

7. Environment and Solid Minerals

- Reforms to promote responsible mining, curb illegal mining, and improve transparency.
- Environmental protection, erosion control, afforestation, and climate interventions in partnership with the World Bank and the Federal Government.

8. Digital Governance and Civil Service

- Establishment of TAGIS to improve land administration and digital governance.
- Civil service reforms on training, promotions, employment, and welfare to boost productivity and morale.

9. Revenue Generation and Tourism

- Strengthening internal revenue systems, blocking leakages, and improving financial accountability.
- Repositioning tourism around the Mambilla Plateau, cultural heritage, and natural sites to create jobs and attract investment.

10. Youth Development and Sports

- Created separate Youth Development Agency and Sports Commission.
- Biometric data capture completed for 296 youths; ₦500 million approved for starter packs starting June 2026.
- Plans to reactivate sports and upgrade facilities statewide.

11. Judiciary Reforms

- Plans for a new High Court Complex, an office for the Judicial Service Commission, and expanded e-filing systems to improve access to justice.

12. Special Development Areas

- Plans to create 14 Special Development Areas from 2027 to improve grassroots governance, security coordination, and development in underserved communities.

13. Looking Ahead

- The next phase will focus on expanding economic opportunities, strengthening institutions, deepening security efforts, improving service delivery, and raising the quality of life for all citizens.

3 Years On: Taraba Is “Moving Forward” with Gains in Education, Health, Roads, and Youth Empowerment

Taraba has made “steady progress” despite inherited challenges. Our administration is built on responsibility, resilience, and renewed hope. Over the past three years, we have delivered achievements across key sectors and will deepen reforms in the next phase.

Below are the key points from my 3rd year Anniversary address:

1. Governance Philosophy

- Government is guided by a constitutional duty to protect lives and property, promote welfare, and ensure fairness, justice, and accountability.
- We chose action over blame when confronted with infrastructure gaps, education and healthcare deficits, insecurity, and economic hardship in 2023.

2. Education

- Declared a state of emergency in education.
- Expanded free and compulsory basic education, improved learning environments, supported teachers, and restored confidence in the system.
- Repositioning tertiary institutions through dialogue, reforms, and infrastructure interventions, with a focus on stabilizing Taraba State University and improving graduate competitiveness.

3. Healthcare

- Strengthening primary healthcare and expanding access for vulnerable groups.
- Major projects underway: Renovation of the State Specialist Hospital, Jalingo; renovation of General Hospitals in Bali and Warwar; upgrading Donga First Referral Hospital; furnishing the College of Nursing and Midwifery; procuring a CT-Scan for Jalingo; and upgrading the College of Health Technology, Takum.

4. Agriculture and Economic Development

- Supporting farmers and livestock development to boost food security and reduce farmer-herder conflicts.
- Creating economic opportunities and positioning Taraba as a major contributor to national food security.

5. Infrastructure and Roads

- Multiple road projects ongoing: Mararaba–Biassa Abong, Yerima–Gassol, Pamanga–Dakka, Zing–Yakoko–Lamma, Takum–Lissam, Wukari–Kente–Chinkai, and township roads in Jalingo and Wukari.
- Rehabilitation of the Wukari–Tella road and the Jalingo–Adamawa border road at Zing.
- The Ibi Bridge across the River Benue is receiving federal attention, with feasibility studies ongoing for Chinkai and Karim Lamido bridges.
- Projects supported by the North East Development Commission.

6. Transportation and Energy

- Planning for remodeled motor parks, modern trailer parks, and standard markets across all 16 LGAs.
- Expanding electricity access through solar power, mini-grids, and rural electrification under the Taraba Electricity Law and the Federal Renewed Hope Agenda.

Earlier today at TY Danjuma House in Wukari, I received the leadership of the Muslim Council of Nigeria, Wukari Chapter, for a Sallah homage.

I used the occasion to reaffirm our commitment to peaceful, harmonious coexistence free from discrimination of any kind. I also urged our religious leaders to remain vigilant and guard against anything that could threaten peace and stability in the community.
