Governor of Colorado. Fighting for affordable health care, better education, an economy that works for everyone, and protecting our Colorado way of life.
Federal funding should be fully competitive and support the best ideas, not reward political allies or punish states that disagree with the President. Coloradans pay a lot in federal taxes and need to be able to rely on it coming back to us through federal funding for roads, public safety, health care, scientific research, and other essential services without worrying that it could be stopped on a political whim. Congress decides how taxpayer dollars should be invested and no President should be allowed to ignore that direction or change the rules halfway through a project.
There are currently numerous active wildfires burning across Colorado, impacting communities across our state. You can scroll through the updated summaries of each one below. Coloradans, let’s stay informed, follow local evacuation orders, and do our part to help prevent new fires. Stay safe, Colorado.
We’re just weeks away from Colorado’s 150th birthday on August 1st! Follow along as we announce each of the artists who are creating unique works of art in communities around our state as we celebrate this historic milestone!
Colorado’s lakes, rivers, and reservoirs are some of the best places to enjoy our great outdoors. Before you head out, remember that Colorado water can stay cold, especially at higher altitudes, even on warm days, so wear a life jacket, check the weather, and plan ahead. Stay safe, be water smart, and have fun exploring Colorado.

I’m glad that the President is releasing documents, because the more we know about election threats, the more we can be prepared to protect the integrity and security of our elections. But the President’s mad ramblings do nothing to actually improve election security and in fact undermine trust in our voting systems and election outcomes. The President has lost more than 60 court cases related to the 2020 election because many of his claims are false. Tackling the real threats against our elections requires bipartisan focus and action, not lists of personal grievances.
Scammers are selling fake emissions test results, and using them can put your vehicle registration and driving privileges at risk. Don’t get trapped by a low-fee promise, use an official testing station and protect yourself. Coloradans can learn more about DMV fraud alerts and scams at https://t.co/wR6E5RrHhL.
Saving Coloradans money on child care is good for our families and our economy. The move to cut extra, bureaucratic child care licensing is a great step to help providers spend less time on paperwork and more time serving families and reducing costs. This is about increasing access to reliable, safe, and affordable child care so parents can work and kids can thrive.

Today, I joined the Reproductive Freedom Alliance to discuss how Colorado is leading the nation in protecting access to healthcare and defending personal freedoms. Colorado was proud to help found the Alliance in 2023, and we are a beacon of personal freedom, ensuring healthcare decisions belong with patients, families, and providers, not politicians. From protecting reproductive care and contraception to expanding access to affordable healthcare options, we are building a future where you can access the healthcare you need.
I’m grateful to the volunteers and staff at our Pueblo Disaster Assistance Center who are showing up every day for Coloradans during this incredibly difficult time. Ins. Today, at the Department of Corrections’ Museum of Colorado prisons, we marked Colorado’s 150th birthday by opening a safe older than the state itself - 155 years old! The safe held a number of old documents from the 1940s-1960s. To honor the occasion we sealed a new safe for Coloradans to open 100 years from now. I added a Colorado 150-250 challenge coin and a baseball.
Heat can be dangerous. A few simple steps can help you and your loved ones stay safe when temperatures rise.
Drink water often, take breaks from the heat, wear sunscreen, and check on neighbors, children, older adults, and pets. Small actions can make a big difference during extreme heat.
Thanks to the incredibly hard work of the men and women of @ColoradoDOT, a key bridge on Highway 165 was reopened to emergency responders less than 11 hours after it was burned down in the Aspen Acres Fires. The new temporary bridge opened up an important pathway for emergency services and evacuation from the area. It was great to be there today to thank the workers who made this possible.

No Coloradan should have to choose between rebuilding a life and meeting a tax deadline. By extending these deadlines for people and small businesses, we’re helping Coloradans impacted by wildfires get the time and space needed to recover, without the added pressure of late fees.
