EI benefits have been outdated for a long time, with more and more unemployed Canadians falling through the gaping holes in our safety net.

Now, as the U.S. trade war escalates, reform is more urgent than ever.

After months of tariffs, threats and increasingly strained rhetoric, PM Mark Carney and President Donald Trump are about to land in the same place.

Both will be in New York for the UN General Assembly this week, as Canada looks to deepen ties with Europe and others.

That's a wrap on UBCM 2026! If there was one topic on everyone's mind this week, it was election readiness, with speculation about timing and positioning shaping as many conversations as the official agenda.

Beyond that, local government officials from across BC gathered in Vancouver for cabinet town halls, party leader addresses, and the resolutions process, with housing, policing agreements, and DRIPA implementation on the agenda, and Buy BC and economic resilience front and centre against the backdrop of the ongoing Canada-US trade war.

Our BC team was there throughout, supporting clients, attending receptions, and connecting with leaders and new contacts from across the sector.
