After going 0-2 at my last two tournaments, I got top 8 for the first time with my new main Kazuya Mishima. I still have a ways to go before I master the Mishima Style, but I could feel my power growing every game. Excited to keep honing my skills to get ready for the next battle
@Kolasaurus@SheevTalks The example was that people give reports to their higher ups and it was about the inquisitors never telling their ups that Bail was involved with Kenobi. Which I don't think is unreasonable to expect, he just worded it in this way for comedic effect.
@naboonat Anakin wasn't that important for the creation of the Empire. He thought Anakin would be a powerful apprentice since he was the chosen one, but he lost all his potential after he was crippled, and Palpatine viewed him as a disappointment. This is why he wanted Luke as an apprentice
@Farofafeijao01@SheevTalks Yeah I do get that and I fully agree with that premise. But with what you initially said, there was a subtle implication that the terms are interchangable when they're really not. They're related, but not the same. "Character power imbalance" is just a product of powerscaling.
@Farofafeijao01@SheevTalks also breaks narrative consistency but isn't powerscaling at all. Also, for the chess example, if chess skill is not relevant to the overall story and is more of a character quirk I would say this is breaking narrative consistency without being "powerscaling"
@Farofafeijao01@SheevTalks Yea, that's closer to power scaling, which I guess you could say is a subset of the umbrella term of "internal narrative consistency." If you establish that a character always locks their door and then in another episode their door is unlocked, and this is never addressed, this
@Farofafeijao01@SheevTalks Internal narrative consistency regarding what aspect of the narrative? Using that term for the sole purpose of avoiding the word powerscaling is intentionally obtuse.
@Cash_4_Mold@ReelRhoades@Ursoocupado Plus even if the blasters WERE lightspeed, a character being faster than light would mean they would have to be able to outrun a shot fired at them, which is obviously not the case. The same way catching a softball going 50 mph doesn't mean you can run 50 mph.
@sunrisemakeyou It also leaves Luffy completely drained and vulnerable afterwards. There's a risk to it, so there's no reason for it to be a go-to option. I do agree with your overall point though fwiw but characters don't have to always be at 100% if they lose nothing by not being at 100%
@sunrisemakeyou Unrelated to the main point but I don't think I've heard this criticism before? No one pushes Luffy hard enough for it to naturally come out. Yes he loses fights in PH but its a deliberate point that its because he's not as serious as he should be.
