Tue, May 6, 2025, 8:30am – County Regional Fire Service crews remained on scene of the Deer Ridge Estates Wildfire overnight last night and into today, scanning the area with a thermal imaging drone and actioning hotspots. The wildfire continues to be classified as being held.

A fire ban remains in effect for the entire County of Grande Prairie and the towns of Beaverlodge, Sexsmith and Wembley. 
A call centre line has been established for evacuees: 780-830-5002. Hours have returned to regular operational hours, 8:00 am to 6:00 pm, Mon to Fri

Update #6: Mon, May 5, 2025, 5:40 pm – County Regional Fire Service is pleased to report that the wildfire is classified as being held. Evacuees are permitted to return to their homes as of 7:00 p.m. this evening, Monday, May 5, 2025.

A reception centre remains open at the Pomeroy Hotel and Conference Centre, 11633 100 Street, Grande Prairie. A call centre line has been established for evacuees and can be reached at 780-830-5002. The call centre hours of operation are from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Update #3: Deer Ridge Estates Wildfire
Sunday, May 4, 2025, 10:06 p.m. – County Regional Fire Service and Alberta Wildfire have made progress to contain the fire using fire retardant dropped by air tankers and a dozer guard. Crews have confirmed that no homes have been destroyed.

Defined as everyone south of Township Road 710 to 27 Avenue and East of Range Road 64 to Highway 40 in the County of Grande Prairie

The use of personal drone equipment is strictly prohibited as it will hinder air response from Alberta Wildfire and may result in fines.
