Relive one of the wildest comebacks in Kentucky Derby history. 🤯
Mine That Bird went from the back of the pack to the winner’s circle at 50-1 odds in 2009 after moving up the rail with Calvin Borel aboard.
PM Carney: "To the families who are at the bedsides of their loved ones in hospital, I want to say to you, Canada is at your side. To the families who have lost a loved one, your loss is also Canada's loss. And we share your grief."
Alberta voters have overwhelmingly chosen a stronger, more prosperous future for their province by remaining in Canada.
I’m thrilled by the decisive support Albertans have shown for the country we all love. Now it’s up to the rest of Canada to deliver on our commitment to Alberta by building new pipelines, unlocking our natural resources and unleashing the prosperity that will protect the future of Canadians from coast to coast to coast.
“It’s always a different thing in life when you’re on your second job in something. The White Sox did a wonderful thing for my career."
Jason Benetti left his hometown to take the Tigers job in 2024. He's become a staple in Detroit.
“The Tigers wanted to make the best broadcast in baseball television, and they said that, and they made me a part of that. And that just changes the whole arena.”

I set out with the goal of not dying and I lived! (ran 9ish miles as part of a relay)
I wanted to pass at least a couple runners and I did!
Granted they were walking but still counts.
Right?
Congrats to all the people that ran the Detroit Marathon!
Was actually pretty fun.

No prices. Pay if you can. Everyone gets a seat at the table. Now that’s giving back.❤️
Today I join with Canadians around the world offering condolences, comfort and prayer to the families of those who lost their lives or were injured at CFB Wainwright. In times of loss such as this, we are reminded not only of the strength, courage and commitment necessary to wear the uniform in defence of our country and its values, but also of the tremendous sacrifice military families make for Canada.
One of the greatest to ever wear the Olde English D and #RepDetroit

Pope Leo greets pilgrims at the Sunday Angelus, his first scheduled event since leaving hospital on Saturday.
In his words to pilgrims the Pope spoke of his experience in hospital, saying:
"I would like to thank all those who have prayed for me in recent days. I have truly sensed your support. Thank you!
I wish to express my particular gratitude to the doctors, nurses and all the staff of the Gemelli Hospital.
This experience has made me feel particularly close to all those who are living with illness or infirmity.
Now that I have overcome this delicate phase, as you know, I will gradually resume my activities, always with God’s help and your prayers."
Pat Murphy did not get a real big league managing job until he was 65 years old
He has won Manager of the Year twice since
Here is his whole story
He never played a day in the major leagues himself. He was a catcher who signed with the San Francisco Giants and spent four years in the minors without ever getting called up
He was the head coach at Arizona State for fifteen seasons. He won 629 games there and took them to the College World Series four times. Before that he was at Notre Dame and won 318 more
Then it ended. He resigned in the middle of an NCAA investigation, after being told to resign or be fired
The NCAA found him innocent of the violations. What they actually reprimanded him for was his attitude toward their investigators. They called it cavalier
Here is how he describes that stretch
"I was a college coach forever, and then I had this huge injustice happen, and I thought, Why me?"
And then this, about himself
"My ego was involved a great deal more than it should have been."
So at 51 years old he went to the minor leagues
Eugene, Oregon. Tucson. El Paso. Nearly five years riding buses in the low minors after fifteen years running one of the best programs in the country
San Diego gave him the interim job and he went 42 and 54 in 96 games. They did not keep him
"I did everything wrong five times."
So he took a job as somebody's bench coach in Milwaukee. He did that for eight years
Then Craig Counsell left for Chicago, and the Brewers handed it to the 65 year old
Here is what happened next.
Manager of the Year. Then Manager of the Year again. 97 wins last season, 103 this one
And a sweep of a Los Angeles roster built to never lose a series like this
He was not some nobody they found in a parking lot. He was one of the best college coaches alive before any of this, and the Brewers handed him a roster Counsell had already built.
But he was 51 when he had to start over in the low minors, and 65 before anybody gave him a team of his own for a full season.
Christian Yelich said it takes a certain kind of player to play for him.
It took a certain kind of man to still be waiting at 65

Professor Stefano Margaritora, who operated on Pope Leo XIV on October 13, speaks to Vatican News about the Holy Father's health.
He said the Pope "truly put his heart" into his treatment, and could be "fully recovered" in about ten days.
There are "no clinical reasons" why his planned trip to South America in November should not take place, Prof. Margaritora told Andrea Tornielli, Editorial Director of the Dicastery for Communication.
The @Brewers *look like* they play fearlessly.
Here’s the irony:
Muhammad Ali once taught Pat Murphy about the power of *embracing* the fear within us all.

Canada is the greatest country on earth.
A country where you are free to be who you want to be. To speak your mind. To worship as you choose. To live your life as you wish.
That is independence. That is sovereignty.
Pope Leo XIV celebrated Mass at noon on Friday in the room set up on the 10th floor of Gemelli Hospital, according to the Holy See Press Office.
Several members of Gemelli's medical and nursing staff attended the Mass, along with members of the Vatican City State Gendarmerie Corps.
"In his homily, the Pope thanked all the staff—doctors, nurses, and orderlies—for the work they do every day caring for patients in their frailty, and especially for what they have done and continue to do for him," read the statement.
NEW: The Vatican released the first pictures of Pope Leo XIV since he underwent surgery following a lung cancer diagnosis, showing him celebrating mass with medical staff in the clinic where he is being treated.
