A grassroots movement of grad students/workers organizing against the neoliberalization of universities & its impact on students during this global pandemic
We were sent these by members of the UofT community who are tired of waiting for the University to act on sexual & gender violence on campus! Accountability now! @UofT
@cupe3902@UofT Shameful of #UofT. According to @imgrund's tweet (https://t.co/TvGwQbMigO) there's a 10.7% chance that someone in that room is positive. Why no distancing? It's not like there are empty rooms on campus...
Hey @UofT Administration!
MASSIVE difference between:
Western’s *requirement* that people on campus provide proof of vaccination or get tested 2x/week
VS
@UofT ‘requirement’ that people self-declare whether they are vaccinated & then get tested if they checked the ‘not’ box
UofT protects predators. Students in solidarity with survivors of sexual violence in the Faculty of Music have set up a Clothesline of statements and stories from survivors and allies on Philospher's Walk after an open letter condemning UofTs complicity circulated widely
The @uoft is Canada’s richest, largest Uni, and it expands this power at the expense of its most precarious workers. Unit 1 of @cupe3902 voted 90% for a strike mandate, we want to see fair hiring criteria and pandemic-related improvements! #uoft#weareuoft#boundless#trueblue
Wishing Unit 1's bargaining team luck as they head to their third day at the table with the UofT. Our team is looking forward to exchanging topical agendas with the University! #onpse#onlab
Hey @uoft education workers! Time to brush up on your geography! How far are you from campus? According to a new university policy, that might matter for your ability to work in September. More to follow.
It’s ‘interesting’ that years of neoliberalization & subsequent commodification & adjunctification of #higherEd coincided w/ the entry of non-white students into the academy...& here were are, graduating ‘diverse’ undergrad & grad students, w/ debt & precarious jobs in the end...

"The corporatization of universities has made matters worse, as students are seemingly further deprioritized beneath prestige and financial success." @readpassage

I’m going to circle back and reiterate: it makes no sense to offer university classes in person when offering the same course for the same credit online.
That’s just foolish.
