@alex_crook “Not perfect”. 1 win in first 8 league games (a 94th minute winner against Livingston), lost 9-1 on aggregate to Brugge. Told Nico Raskin he wouldn’t play for the club again (just made his world cup debut with Belgium). Other than that…
@davismagpie A masterclass in discipline mate. Doing what they need to do against the best team in the world. Not a brilliant game to be fair because of that.
Referees, like anyone, should not have to suffer threats or intimidation.
But this hasn't just happened in a scottish oasis of calm and tranquility where refs have been supported and lauded.
There has been a form of aggressive lobbying from the top of one football club ever since the Dougie McDonald incident, this set a tone and agenda that their fanbase carried relentlessly without counter or repercussion.
The referee strike and why it happened has been erased from history. That should have been a watershed moment - it wasn't
They continued as they started to see results from the pressure, and successive CEOs / chairman / managers of Celtic maintained the tone and pressure - explicit and implicit. And now here we are.
Rangers have occasionally spoke up when they feel the need, but nothing as concerted and pernicious as Celtic's 15yr campaign.
This statement tells a story much higher than Beaton got threats because of Wednesday night, but most don't want to tell it.
Those who questioned the integrity of Sam Nicholson owe the boy an apology.
The @MotherwellFC player swore on his kids life that the ball didn’t strike his hand.
This new video clip is the clearest evidence of that.
I’m looking at you @shebahn@chris_sutton73
Seriously that is never a handball at Fir Park. The boy headed it 20 yards. The ref takes one look after VAR calls him over. Embarrassing for Scottish football.
If you are a Hearts fan you would be feeling like you have been robbed blind. An extraordinary VAR intervention/invention to ensure Celtic stay in the title race. An absolute travesty that football has let officials have this level of influence over match outcomes.
@Bobmcphail1872 What did you think of his post match interview? There comes a point surely when the players are looking at that acceptance of yet more game changing decisions and wondering where the fight is. As you say, fans have probably turned and we know how that ends.
Would love to hear the explanation as to why a flair up between Rommens and Johnston (already booked) results in a booking for Rommens and Tierney.
I mean, I know the answer. Would just love to hear the official explanation.
