Ok Twitter peeps - here’s a tale of airline double dipping your bank funds. On 7/9/22 we purchased two flights with @Qantas at a total cost of $1136.90 which came out of our @StGeorgeBank account immediately. Qantas then put a 7 day pending hold for the SAME AMOUNT which … 1/2

"The textile waste problem certainly reaches
beyond Asia, but it still fails to find a solution. The
reality is, the world’s current textile recycling
methods are inadequate at recycling, resource
recovery and ultimately landfill diversion."

@ReRunClothing It would open up govt. funding and private investment across the world. It would further engage consumers + highlight the impact the fashion industry has on our environment. Why do we care more about a coke bottle than our favourite t-shirt - they are the same plastic material?
To be honest, I was a little nervous to talk with one of the best speakers and facilitators in Australia...but it was a lot of fun and even I learned something about myself!

@VictorianGreens@ellensandell Why are clothing and textiles not referenced? This govt. report highlights the disregard for the 190,000t/y sent to landfill. Textile waste is more than 2x e-waste and tyres COMBINED which have 80% recovery rates. Polyester is a plastic the same as a coke bottle!
@BreakfastNews Minister Ley & the govt. are missing a huge opportunity in textile waste recycling. We have the tech. developed in Aust. to recover resources from approx. 1 mill. tonnes going into landfill each year. Polyester is plastic, the same as a coke bottle. @blocktexx
The recycling symbol is not a 'get out of jail free' card.
Labelling a plastic as 'recyclable' when the closest recycling facility is 10,000s kms away is ambitious at best.

@infravic report: textile waste is more than double the tonnes generated than e-waste and tyres COMBINED. Textile material recovery is virtually zero. Government focus on resource recovery must incorporate textiles, delivering jobs, economic value and CO2 emissions reduction.
@where_is_anna Agree. Grants are weighted towards established companies with big enough balance sheets to fund their own projects. Which means innovation is inhibited and start-ups scalability is restricted especially in the manufacturing sector. This practice doesn't change or improve BAU.
