After much deliberation, we have decided that we will no longer be posting to X. We recommend following us on Mastodon at @[email protected] (If you need an account, visit https://t.co/VXWT8xyDOR, find your ideal server, and follow us from anywhere). π

@ClaysonMonyela Question: Why does the SA government continue to maintain a presence on a platform run by someone who hates us? You know he effectively earns money every time someone comes to check your post and sees an ad?
Mastodon is a better platform for governments: https://t.co/qhNG2OqPI8
The days of the big FOSS projects (LibeOffice, Firefox, Thunderbird, etc) using proprietary, for-profit social networks for their primary accounts is coming to an end. Those places just don't fit the ethos of FOSS projects, and FOSS networks are starting to come into their own.
@Alexand47741635@LibreOffice If you have an account on *any* Mastodon server, you can follow LibreOffice. You don't need to log on to fosstodon. Just log into your regular Mastodon server, and enter "@[email protected]" into the search bar.
Popular servers are at https://t.co/qhNG2OqPI8, but there are literally thousands of others, so if you can't find one that speaks to you there, Google "Mastodon server for xyz".
The concept of Mastodon is very simple: pick a server to join, and follow anyone on any other server. But time and time again, we hear how this concept is one that people struggle to understand.
@Freakbeats_cast@LibreOffice Communist?
I suppose you could make a case for it being socialist, or at least socialist-leaning. But by that definition, so is LibreOffice, seeing as they're supported exclusively by donations from the community.
But communist?
@MiguelRotolo@LibreOffice Or join a different server. Visit https://t.co/qhNG2OqPI8, and pick one that feels right for you. Once you've joined, enter "@[email protected]" into the search box of that server. :-)
@SwitchedToLinux@LibreOffice Fosstodon is just one server in the Mastodon network, though. Visit https://t.co/qhNG2OqPI8, and pick one that feels right for you. Once you've joined, enter "@[email protected]" into the search box of that server. :-)
@MLSconstitution @LibreOffice That particular server happens to be invite only, but that particular server doesn't constitute the whole of Mastodon. Visit https://t.co/qhNG2OqPI8, and pick one that's right for you. Once you've joined, enter "@[email protected]" into the search box of that server. :-)
@SergeInCT @LibreOffice@bsky So basically, we need to ask @LibreOffice to do that if they haven't already, and then you'll be able to find them on Bluesky :-)
@SergeInCT @LibreOffice From your Mastodon account, follow @bsky[email protected]. They'll create a Bluesky account on your behalf, and start cross-posting all your toots to BS. People on BS can follow the bridge on the other end (via a BS account), which enables full two-way interaction. :)
@SSwry24085@LibreOffice Visit https://t.co/qhNG2OqPI8, and pick one that feels right for you. Once you've joined, enter "@[email protected]" into the search box of that server. :-)
@msfatherfigure@LibreOffice There's a Fediverse <-> Bluesky bridge. If @LibreOffice follows it from their Mastodon account, you'll be able to see their posts on Bluesky as easily as if they were a native user. :-)
