Just heard that Bermondsey Recycling plant was on fire. I use to broadcast just over the road from this site every Sunday from 1999 to 2001, on Pirate Rock station " Pipeline Radio". The late Tom Mackenzie station boss worked there for a while.

Fifteen fire engines and around 100 firefighters are tackling a fire at a recycling centre on Landmann Way in Bermondsey

Station Commander Wayne Bloomfield, who is attending the scene, said: "Firefighters are working hard to extinguish a large amount of refuse at a recycling centre

The fire is also affecting a warehouse unit

"Due to the significant amount of smoke in the area, local residents are advised to keep their windows and doors closed

"Loose embers have also been reported, which is normal during large fires

Residents are advised to pour water onto them if they are concerned about loose embers on or near their properties, but if they do catch something alight, don't hesitate to call 999

"This is likely to be a protracted incident, with crews remaining on scene into the morning."

Two of the Brigade's 32-metre turntable ladders have been deployed to the scene to help fight the fire from above

A Hose Layer Unit is also on scene, supporting front line appliances by laying large capacity hose lines over long distances to supply water to the fire ground

Control Officers took the first of multiple calls at 17:32 and have mobilised crews from Deptford, Old Kent Road, Greenwich and surrounding fire stations to the scene

In Epsom in Surrey a woman in her early 20s was raped for two hours by four men. Last night the locals protested that @SurreyPolice have not released their descriptions. They turned up in riot gear.

A lady claims they were migrants, and the police have the CCTV.

This whole Scott Mills story seems off. The case against him was dropped by the CPS regarding an alleged incident from 10 years previouse. Nobody who worked with him with him felt he was a "wrongun". Why have the BBC gone into overdive trashing him?

Radio 2 presenter Scott Mills has been sacked by the BBC after allegations around his personal conduct. According to reports, it related to a 2016 police investigation into serious sexual offences against a teenager, but the case was dropped due to a lack of evidence.

Sad to hear of the death of James Stannage. Apart from from hearing his very edgey Key 103/Hits show. He hosted a few shows on Signal Radio in Stoke On Trent around 1983- 85 including a Rock show and a somewhat too rude for the IBA Satuday Afternnon show during the summer.
