After looking into x-ray, it does not seem like AppSync has anything to do with the extra delay.

Both requests were traced at ~150 ms.
So, it must be something else.

And after thinking about it, I think I know what it is.

It's @GraphBolt auto-refreshing the Cognito token 🙂
