Your executive resume gets about 15 seconds. Maybe 20 if you're lucky.
In that tiny window, a hiring manager is trying to answer:
1. What job are you actually going for?
2. Have you done this successfully before?
3. What skills do you bring to the table?
4. Can you prove you'll deliver results again?
If they can't find those answers fast, usually in the top third of the page, they're on to the next one.
Here's what makes a resume work in 2026:
- A clear target title and your top 3 skills right at the top
- A personal branding statement that makes you memorable
- 3 measurable accomplishments that prove your impact
- A core strengths section with keywords that match the role
- Bullets that focus on results, not just responsibilities
Hiring managers use your past wins to predict your future performance. Make those wins impossible to miss.
I put together a free resume template that walks you through all of this step by step.
It's the same one used by an Ivy League university and 3 top business schools.
One woman used it at 60 years old; applied to 16 jobs, got 16 interviews, and walked away with 15 offers.

No strings attached. Just want to help you land your next opportunity faster.
One of my clients got an auto-rejection at 6:15 am the morning after she applied for a job she was perfectly qualified for. With a referral. After spending 4 hours tailoring her resume.
I kid you not.
She asked me: "How did my resume fail the test again?"
It didn't fail. The test itself is defective.
You know me, I had to dig into the data to figure out what's actually happening behind the scenes right now, and there are 5 specific reasons qualified people are getting ghosted in 2026 that have nothing to do with their qualifications:
→ One is a software problem (and it's not what you think)
→ One is about jobs that were never real to begin with
→ One is happening because of the very tool most people think is helping them
None of these are discussed enough, with data to back up why they're not working and what to do instead. All of them are fixable.
And that's what I'm diving into in today's edition of Perfect-Fit Positioning.
Full breakdown (with the data behind each one) is in the article 👇

One of my favorite strategies for effective engagement on LinkedIn is to locate the hiring manager, recruiter, decision-maker, and a couple of employees for a target company.

Most job seekers struggle because they treat finding their next job like a reactive search instead of what it actually is: a well-planned career marketing campaign.
📄 Want a resume that gets read in 15 seconds & lands interviews?
Hiring managers are drowning in look-alike resumes. Here's what they actually want to see in those crucial first 15 seconds:
- Your target role & top 3 high-priority skills
- Specific, measurable achievements that prove you can deliver
- Core strengths that directly align with their needs
- Your unique differentiators that set you apart
Sound overwhelming? I've got you covered.
I'm sharing my executive resume template - the same one chosen by an Ivy League university and 3 top business schools for their official resume guidebooks.
The results speak for themselves:
- 7 interviews in 10 days
- $20K average salary increases
- Success where paid services couldn't deliver

Hiring managers aren’t reading your resume.
They’re skimming it for 15–20 seconds looking for proof you can do the job.
And most resumes fail that test in the first few lines.
Here’s what I’ve noticed...
Hiring managers are asking four silent questions and your resume either answers them fast… or it doesn’t.
1️⃣ What role are you targeting?
2️⃣ What impact have you made?
3️⃣ Do you have the right skills?
4️⃣ Can you deliver the same results in the future?
If the top third of your resume doesn’t answer those, you’re invisible.
What actually works in 2025-2026:
✅ Start with your target title (clarity).
✅ Add 2–3 relevant wins (impact).
✅ Include core hard skills (fit).
✅ Double down on repeatable results (future).
That’s the section that makes hiring managers stop scrolling.
The shift is subtle but powerful:
When your resume leads with proof, not tasks, the conversation changes
It moves from “Tell me about yourself” to “When can you start?”
If your resume isn’t opening doors, you may not need to rewrite the whole thing.
Rebuild the first third.
That’s where first impressions start.
Recently I wrote a entire article on the 4 questions hiring managers are asking themselves when they review your resume.
I outline exactly how you can answer each question in your resume.

Are you saying:
“I’ll never find a similar job that will pay the same.”
Or, are you saying:
“I know my worth, the results I deliver, and the value I bring to a new employer. This will equip me to land a better-paying job in no time.”
I challenge you to take a hard look at what you’re saying to yourself about your job search and decide today to CHANGE those negative thoughts/beliefs.
Your fear of missing out on potential roles by being too specific is actually making you miss out on ALL the roles. Employers don't hire generalists—they hire experts.
