Namibia’s N$88bn budget commits 62% to social sectors. A bold investment in people. Pensions rise by N$100/month. Commendable. But with public debt projected to hit N$217bn by ‘28, the question isn’t whether we care for citizens today, it’s whether we can afford to tomorrow.
Namibia’s Appropriation Bill tabling on 26 Feb 2026 is a critical moment. Budgets drive development, but only when executed well. Underspending stalls progress; overspending risks fiscal stability. Disciplined implementation is where real impact is made. #NamibiaBudget2026
BUDGET ANNOUNCEMENT: Finance Minister Ericah Shafudah is set to table the Appropriation Bill on 26 February 2026 at 14:30, according to an announcement by ministry of finance spokesperson, Wilson Shikoto.
This upcoming session follows the 2025/26 national budget of N$106.3 billion, which Shafudah tabled on 27 March 2025.
Delivered under the theme "Beyond 35: For a Prosperous Future," that budget was the first of President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah’s administration and set the stage for the government's current fiscal trajectory.
This is exactly the kind of infrastructure investment Namibia 🇳🇦 needs! Connecting schools and health facilities to free Wi-Fi for 7 years is a game-changer. When we invest in connectivity, we invest in human capital. The future of Namibia is being built one tower at a time! 🙌
Three newly constructed network towers in the Kavango West region will provide free Wi-Fi to neighbouring schools and health facilities for the next seven years, supporting e‑education and e‑health services. https://t.co/WCVF8vec51
Jesse Jackson’s unwavering support for Namibia’s liberation was pivotal during our struggle for independence. His commitment to justice and human dignity transcended borders and inspired our freedom fighters. We honour his legacy as a true champion of African liberation.
FMD threatens Namibia’s livestock sector & pastoral livelihoods. Prevention costs far less than market isolation post-outbreak. We need urgent coordination on vaccination, bio-security, trade protocols. This is economic policy, not just veterinary response.
Namibia needs an estimated N$1.5 billion to fully combat the potential outbreak of the highly contagious Foot-and-Mouth Disease (FMD). https://t.co/eYfFP1l51q
