@TrentJordanFan That's really true. I think there is a better way like you. But because everyone in the community is too short-termed, there are times when hope for such a thing fades...
a couple of things have to be said.
we can all agree that we wanted roblox to be safe and hoped that there were going to be some sort of moderation reform, i was one of them since i've grown genuinely impatient with hearing disturbing stories and bad actors getting away scratch free on this platform throughout the years.
and thinking about it too, age verification and IDs are something we can't be able to escape either, it's all bipartisan even though it's very flawed and opposed by the online world. anywhere you'll go whether it's gaming or social media, most of the time it'll have something like that.
i understand the intentions with roblox trying to make their platform safe especially after what happened in august of last year, the problem however is how poorly executed these updates are. when you look at their recent updates especially since the beginning of the year, some of them are flat out game-breaking and detrimental to creators. for example, roleplaying games like bloxton/frappe declined massively since they divided their community into age groups, which heavily impacted chatting in the game.
ill at least applaud them for at least finding solutions to make things easier for the community while still focusing on safety (introduction of global chat for example) but it goes back to what i said, these are updates that they're pushing out without thinking of the long-term consequences it'll have on the platform.
now to those that keep saying roblox is dying or hope they go bankrupt, let's use our thinking caps and know that this platform is too big to fail despite pressure from politicians and players. though you have to wonder when david baszucki will eventually step down because of all of this, because the amount of damage leadership did to their reputation might be undone. mind you, their focus on AI for creator development on the platform is also being accounted for too.
i absolutely agree that roblox needs to be safer, but i do hope roblox can find different ways to preserve stuff that's being lost due to these implementations. i grew up with some of those games especially legacy ones, and it sucks to see them disappear off this platform. who knows, maybe they'll find a way to bring them back someday.
Feels like a lot of updates lately come with a "an effect of this was not intended" which makes me wonder if they shouldn't take more time thinking these decisions through before rolling them out...
