When the misuse of drugs act was introduced in 1971, you could still;

legally fire a women due to her pregnancy
Use a three pence piece as legal tender
Advertise cigarettes

This outdated act causes harm to people and communities everyday. Decriminalise now.

Being "incredibly tough" does more harm, this is my experience, being stripped searched, beaten by Police & locked in cells did not help me control or manage or stop my drug use & traumatised me into wanting to use more.

Some context - Scottish drug deaths

In 2020 most drug services closed due to Covid & 1,339 lives were lost, in 2021 with services open 1,330 lives were lost, a 0.67% decrease

Between 2017 & 2018 deaths increased by 27% - any positive spin on 0.67% is an intellectual insult.

If you apply basic logic to viewing cannabis, it’s prohibition simply makes no sense. It’s negative effects are for those underage, who we agree should not have access. It is one of the safest drugs widely used,and is 100% non-toxic. Legalize it!
