For everyone who tries to tell you that protesting is hopeless or that your voice doesn't matter—show them the streets of Auckland today.

It is easy to look at the global war machine, or the threats to our environment, and feel completely powerless. That is exactly how the establishment wants us to feel. But today, Aucklanders refused to stay on the sofa. You took to the streets, side-by-side, and chose to wield your hope as a weapon against complacency.

We made it clear that we will not allow our precious environment to be torn apart for war minerals to fuel global devastation.

BREAKING: Up to six New Zealanders have been caught up in an Israeli Defense Force interception of the Global Sumud Flotilla. The boats were attempting to establish a humanitarian corridor to Gaza. This happened in international waters.

This interception is illegal under international law. The flotilla was sailing lawfully under Article 87 of UNCLOS.

Chris Bishop is weakening freshwater rules to allow corporations to pollute without consequences. Meanwhile, the Hutt River - in his own electorate - is so polluted with toxic algae that it's unsafe for swimming.

Maybe Chris should focus on cleaning up his own backyard, instead of enabling freshwater pollution in other parts of the country.

@wiremu_wilson Nitrate in drinking water can’t be removed with most filters. Using an expensive reverse osmosis filter will remove nitrate, but other filtration methods won’t be effective.

Ultimately though, we need to stop pollution from getting into the water in the first place.
