@ljallen2013@the_transit_guy the “last mile” is the obvious issue that train-heads never address. I have friend who sometimes takes the train into downtown Chicago and then walks 2 miles (!) to the office. trains do not service proximity to enough jobs period, except in Boston and NYC
@Olking07 old people (the bosses) feel young people need to “pay dues” like they did. justify all their office expenses. political pressure for daytime workers (lunch, restaurants, etc). AND a subset of people legit don’t work hard when they’re remote
@PunchyMoney if you have kids you kind of need to own + that stability. can’t be subject to annual rent increases and then packing them up to move every year (maybe changing schools etc). otherwise, I’d agree
@Jaaziel_MP@BarbellFi the ship has sailed on this but it is government intervention (Fannie and Freddie buying the mortgages from banks). which causes artificial inflation of prices. intention might have been good but as with everything govt getting involved screws things up
@BarbellFi kind of agree, BUT the available debt causes Other people to way over pay thereby making the homes so so much more expensive than they’re inherently worth. so paying cash is super difficult. when you have kids you need a house. otherwise i’d agree - don’t bother
