If you are struggling to pay your rent here are 3 quick tips:
1) Pay as much as possible towards your rent
2) Check your benefit entitlement @entitledto@turn2us_org
3) Get advice as to whether you can challenge the rent arrears +check the validity of any notice served
Questions:
1)How will these tenants access duty advice?
2) How will those with literacy issues, learning/mental disabilities cope?
3)Do all tenants have smartphones / access to the internet?
4)Is it fair to expect a parent to do a remote hearing w/o childcare? 1/2
Remote hearings AND in-person hearings during a pandemic are both terrible options for most tenants. PD51Z must be extended to protect most vulnerable in society. Otherwise there will be an enormous increase in homelessness with which councils won't be able to cope. @MoJGovUK
Important advice, by housing expert @nearlylegal, about why we need to help renters👉"Unless..other measures are brought in by the gov, there is a real risk that people will face possession claims for arrears in a month or two or possession claims after a s21 notice."
In the rush to embrace tech it's important to learn the lessons from the discrimination 📞 gateway. Between 13/14 + 17/18:
➡️ 17, 717 calls were taken
➡️ 18 ppl received f2f advice
➡️ 80% got 📞 advice only
Tech is a tool not a panacea
