@USN_Submariner@PHineinlegen from wikipedia - An Advanced Surface Missile System (ASMS) was promulgated and ... initiated in 1964 to meet the requirements. ASMS was renamed "Aegis" in December 1969.
On March 17, 1939, physicist Enrico Fermi met with US Navy and Army representatives to discuss uranium fission's potential for both weapons and power generation. Shortly thereafter, physicist Ross Gunn, head of the Mechanics and Electricity Division at the Naval Research Laboratory secured initial funding (around $2,000) to study uranium as a power source for a submarine steam plant.
~10 years ago I did yearly talks about "new JavaScript features".
When Chrome 100 shipped in 2022, I started a habit:
a tiny live demo page for every Chrome release.
50 versions later, I unified them all into one site ๐

RPG (report program generator) was a language designed to get the most out of a punch card. Certain characters in certain columns defined files, fields, etc. It has 130 predefined booleans, some of which change as the state of the program changes. Programs eventually migrated from the punch card to the dumb terminal. It ran on mainframes, HP and Wang minicomputers and IBM's System/36 and System/38 and AS/400. It was half of the Y2K problem.
Russia has been barred from competing in the Olympics since they started a war in Ukraine. Nothing has changed. Itโs an absolute disgrace the IOC would clear them to compete while Putin continues to bomb Ukrainian cities and hold their land.
The IBM i was first introduced as the AS/400. Most machines were sold as appliances to run canned software like ERP systems (Lawson, MAPICS, JD Edwards) and utilities like Fax/400. EDI and Y2K were the big challenges for developers. The UI was and is the dumb terminal. OO was never on the radar.
@William94984551@lauriewired IBM i OS objects have types and encapsulated implementation, but there is no inheritance, method overriding, or polymorphism. Essentially, every object type in IBM i OS is final. The command to override a file is not an OO overide.
@lauriewired JTOpen, the IBM i JDBC driver JAR, also contains classes that expose the native IBM i object model. Those classes invoke IBM i system APIs and manipulate libraries, programs, data queues, message queues, jobs, etc. Explore IBM i from a JRuby REPL in QP2TERM.
Feeling like a scene from the pages of a story book, this is the village of Tissington in the Peak District. It has winding lanes lined with cottages, all clustered around a Jacobean manor house, plenty of lovely independent shops, a cosy tearoom, a 12th Century church - and a beautifully peaceful village duckpond. I must admit that I feel quite envious of the ducks at the moment, splashing around in that cool water!
Gee that's funny because Clinton ran on balancing the budget in 1992 but it didn't appear on the GOP platform until 1994. If Newt did it, you'll have to explain why he met with the White House in budget negotiations over several months. In 2000, Bush ran on an explicit promise to bust the budget surplus.
