Atkinson's law - if an online debate about science goes on long enough the probability that one party compares the other party to a climate change denier, flat-earther or anti-vaxer increases.
Argh yes, but the usual clueless suspects reckoned Toyota had the wrong EV strategy & should have been more like European automakers ;)

The number of international visitors to Japan from January to June ticked down slightly for the first time since the pandemic, as many Chinese tourists stayed away amid deteriorating bilateral relations.
Another small pond in my yard. This appears to be quite popular with the paper wasps that visit the garden. I need to add some plants around it to hopefully attract some frogs.
Monkey alert in our local area which is far better than a bear alert. Still they can be quite vicious & bite & scratch people. Apparently this monkey scratched an elementary school kid & is still on the loose.
World apartment prices . Hong Kong, Zurich, Seoul, Singapore and Geneva make up the top five. Sydney not in the top 10 coming in 16th #auspol Source : Deutsche Bank
Activities when CO2 emissions are not a major problem & climate change is not going to wipe us out include:
major sporting events, air travel, tourism related consumption & major international conferences especially when these are focused on reducing emissions ;)
I did many root cause analysis investigations in telecoms & the causes can often go into areas that senior management won't like:
Telstra reveals string of errors that led to catastrophic nationwide outage https://t.co/2sA2TB4DpA
@wrathofgnon A major problem in Australia decades ago along with cinders in the air from camp fires or BBQ's or even broken glass under the hot sun causing dry leaves etc. to catch fire. Almost forgotten now because CO2 is the villain. Other causes, power lines, lightning, cigarettes.
A foreseeable problem but not by those mismanaging tourism:
Japan notifies local gov'ts they may "ban" private lodgings amid problems https://t.co/qvMDhLraMH
@wrathofgnon Data centres are a bit like mass tourism. There are constraints that limit growth but they are pushed aside no matter what damage this does to local communities so that corporations & governments can make more money. Their concerns about CO2 emissions also amazingly vanish.
Sweet potato progress - 6th June & now. This is the first lot I planted & I have several others growing as well. Surely I will be able to dig-up at least some sweet potatoes around October.
What worries me is that the same type of bureaucrat & advisors that mismanaged the influx of tourists into Japan might also be mismanaging the influx of foreign workers. Or perhaps skilled workers really do ride bicycles during the day & hang-out at car parks at night? ;)
@Ch2Christo I have not researched enough about either to make a good comparison & by research I mean enough to have a paper published. I am just watching from the sidelines :)
JR East will launch Japan's first #hydrogen hybrid passenger train by the end of FY2027. The fuel cell-powered Hybari emits #zeroCO2 and can travel 70 km per hydrogen refill.

@Ch2Christo Well.. hydrogen is the lightest and most abundant element in the universe. So it does have some major advantages. Generally less nasty than ammonia as well.
