Watch a kid when he does things that don't benefit him directly. Ex: pick balls in cage, shag, clean dugout after game, pick up/carry equipment, chase a foul ball, reaction when a teammate does well, work on field, etc. It will tell you a lot about how he was raised.
@CoachBradley9 I actually had a catcher (Juco level) tell me this year that it wasn’t his job to have to stop every ball thrown to him. We ended up having a fairly intense conversation about that concept. 😆
