The 1964 NAM 2nd Summit Conference (Cairo), the principle of uti possidetis juris and the preservation of the boundaries of the colonial states inform the work, which ultimately proceeds to question #borders as mediator within the citizen/state relationship.

Counting down the weeks until my solo exhibition “Grey-Zones” opens at Artillery Gallery, Harare. It’s an interrogation into #borders and #bordertheory and the implications of these, within installation, etching, sculpture and drawings.
The concepts proceed from the 1884 Berlin Conference and the entry of the pioneer column through the Shashe river, and the formation of the national boundary of Zimbabwe, seen as an act of violence on the land.
Crossing between the speed of new media and the measured, pedantic processes of the traditional. Down the line the meeting of the two forces, but here, just the traditional…
