Blackwolf Run - River
#95/Top 100
“Life isn’t fair, why build a fair golf course?” - Pete Dye loved to say this and that philosophy shows up at the wonderful River course.
It’s conditioning is amongst the best of all resort courses I’ve played. Wonderful turf. The holes are unique and fun, gorgeous as well.
On a few holes he loves to test your mind with “unfair” features, whether it be trees blocking the preferred route or greens that are brutally difficult. But that unfairness is part of the experience.
It’s amazing course that has lost some luster due to the changing philosophies in golf architecture, but it remains a great test of golf and an awesome golf course to play. A modern classic.
Hiding weaknesses doesn't project strength. It reflects insecurity.
No matter how hard you try, people who know you well will see your flaws.
You might as well get credit for having the humility to look for them, the self-awareness to spot them, and the integrity to admit them.
