This insight by MacDonald is absolutely correct. PR removes the sense of a governing mandate. The governing programme is decided after the election, by which point voters have been removed from the equation.
While of course under FPTP governments may try to do the same, the political costs are higher because of the expectation that they were elected to govern on the basis of a set of manifesto promises made before the election to the voters.
Very sorry to see that Sir Alex Younger has died of cancer, aged just 62. Younger's wife 'was shocked that he had never told his mother he was a spy, and so he did. “Yes, darling, so was I,” his mother replied.' https://t.co/6sfVIqBqpF
Thanks to everyone who signed the brain cancer justice petition, we now have a Westminster Hall debate scheduled for 15/6
So please email your MP & ask them to attend. If brain cancer has broken your heart too - ask them to share your story.
We’ve waited far too long for change.
Another of The Yorkshire Post's online pieces highlights the support of Abtisam Mohamed MP, who has worked to bring franchisees and MPs together in Parliament so that these concerns can be heard, scrutinised, and acted upon.
As Abtisam says in the piece, these concerns "cannot be minimised" and must be examined openly and transparently.
We're grateful to The @yorkshirepost for continuing to shine a light on these issues, and to the MPs who are helping ensure franchisees' voices are finally being heard.

🚨 Reporting restrictions lifted:
Asian paedophile gang jailed for a combined 188 years.
‘The men involved have taken more away from me than I can ever describe. Looking back, I feel sad for my 12-year-old self.’
When will this end?
"The enforcement spotlight has been trained on contractors rather than the promoters who designed and profited from the schemes. That choice speaks to a fundamental failure of accountability." Spot on. #loancharge
