Check our latest work in @J_A_C_S! We disclose a stereoretentive Yang photocyclization, enabling efficient synthesis of highly substituted cyclobutanols whilst preserving stereochemical information encoded in substrates derived from the chiral pool. https://t.co/LpOcRLzcoE
📢 We are recruiting a postdoctoral researcher to join our dynamic research group at @UniofNottingham ! ⚗️🧪🧑🔬👩🔬💡 Check out our website https://t.co/FNkrTdeXZp for more info and to find out how to apply! 👀

We are pleased to share our work on the biocatalytic synthesis of 2’-functionalised nucleoside analogues published in @NatureSynthesis led by @MJWillmott_! Huge thanks to everyone involved!

Last week was my last as a member of the @FlitschSabine lab. I’ve said before but it really has been a special place to study and work, and I’m very grateful for all of the wonderful colleagues and friends I have shared a lab with @Turner_Biocat@UoMMIB ❤️
Some job news - pleased to say that I have joined @Melchiorre_P@MelchiorreGroup at the University of Bologna! I’m very excited to start this new chapter as part of the ERC AdG PHOTOZYME project, looking forwards to some very exciting photobiocatalysis projects 💡
Finally, I’m proud to report I can give everyone the true value of a PhD thesis! My car was broken into yesterday, with the thieves going through my suitcase and laundry bag. They took my Switch but left my thesis, leaving me to deduce the value is <£260 😂
I’d also like to thank my examiners, Nic Harmer and David Leys, for their thoughtful discussion and suggestions regarding my work and, of course, for passing me!
📢An up-to-2 years PDRA👩🔬👨🔬position is available in our research group, as part of an EPSRC-funded research programme (ALKe-Syn). If you fancy functionalizing hydrocarbons using electricity🔌light💡or both – please apply here: https://t.co/la5u8MlQJN
Deadline 31Oct2024
Please RT!
Very happy that our protocol to detect SARS-CoV-2 in clinical samples using MS is up on ChemRxiv! This was a massive project that was hugely collaborative and very rewarding. Thanks to all co-authors involved!

Congratulations to our PhD student Anya, who won the prize for best biological talk at the @UoMChemistry PGR Conference, showcasing her work on engineering a multifunctional IRED! @UoMMIB
I’m also very grateful to the people who came to discuss both my work and theirs during the conference. I don’t always find it easy to ‘network’, but it was a pleasure to meet so many great scientists and learn about their projects!! Now to knuckle down with the thesis…
I was fortunate to get the opportunity to talk at @NextGenBiocat about some of our work in the @FlitschSabine lab utilising ancestral sequence reconstruction in biocatalysis. Thank you to the committee for putting on such an excellent slate of speakers and conference!
