@Bbmorg And the reason for them not being branded as Easter Eggs back in the 60s & 70s? The Church of England and the Catholic Church objected to Easter being exploited to sell confectionery.
This comes up every Easter. The reason Cadbury's and other companies don't call them Easter Eggs is because both the Catholic Church and Church of England objected to the use of the word "Easter" to promote confectionery.
They haven't been branded as Easter Eggs for decades.
Britain has been a Christian nation for over 1,400 years.
Through wars, plagues, and countless kings, Easter has always been celebrated.
Yet now, Cadbury won’t even use the word ‘Easter’ on their eggs.
When did celebrating British traditions become controversial?
@Tazerface16 Yes. I was a projectionist back in the 90s, and you had to still screen the movie in case people showed up late. Having to start it later would disrupt the subsequent screenings in the same theatre.
@JimBenda@bendreyfuss Death in Paradise involves spending months in the Caribbean. It sounds idyllic but the cast members have spoken of missing family & friends while they're away.
@jbeggs252@anders_aslund@nandon2425 While I do agree with this, it's probably exactly what Putin wants, a weakened NATO, and he's probably pulling the strings (much as he did with Brexit, to make the EU weaker).
@DAaronovitch His opening line betrays his ignorance: "Whatever happened to Britain, or the UK, or England, or whatever they’re calling it? We can’t even agree on what it’s called."
@bradpsychology He works in the ACT. My understanding is that Cup Day is not a public holiday anywhere but Metro Melbourne.
He's such an entitled prick!
@Kavo1890 He's right, you know.
You should hear the respectful, contemplative silence at my local Irish bar, here in Melbourne, when the local troubadour plays his interpretation of Zombie.
@JoshButler Every puff piece about Sussan mentions that she is/was a punk.
Has she ever backed this up, like voiced an opinion on the recent Pistols' tour without Lydon, or shown off her collection of Clash LPs & Ramones t-shirts, or demonstrated any knowledge of The Damned's discography?
