Well lemme tell ya. I was a tomboy. Loved playing in the woods, building forts, roughhousing...then, in the 5th grade I got boobs. I was mortified. They just showed up one day. I knew the boys would treat me differently so my cousin helped me bind them down with an ace wrap. My mom figured out what I was doing and put a stop to it.

The boys did treat me differently. They wanted to snap my bra instead of playing baseball with me. If I had been born after 2020, I'd probably be sitting here with my faux penis and mastectomy scars writing this.

Somehow, I did not fall under the misimpression that my being a tomboy made me an actual boy.

Thank God.

I went through puberty and the hormones shaped my brain, as hormones do, and I grew to embrace my femininity. Every child deserves to go through that sacred transformation.

Is it sometimes difficult and confusing?

Yes.
