So proud of Year 2 this week and the amazing efforts they have put into writing persuasive letters about the quality of care for animals in our local zoos🤩🐼 @MissEmilyWade
In Year 2 we are really enjoying our weekly dance lessons with @pewithglee. Today we used our learning from the last few weeks, to create our own dance routines in pairs. It was brilliant to see everyone's progress!😊
In DT today, we began learning about freestanding structures. To help develop our understanding, we went for a walk looking for any freestanding structures in our local area. We then had a go at building our own freestanding structures using lego.😊
In Literacy this morning, the children enjoyed using their chromebooks to practice creating interesting sentences with adverbs. These all linked to our topic about the Great Fire of London. @MissEmilyWade 💻🔥
As a hook to our new learning about the Great Fire of London, we used @nowpressplay to travel back in time to 1666. In only 20 minutes, the children learned so many facts and could begin to empathise with those impacted at the time. Fantastic!🔥
We are loving the run up to Christmas in Year 2! This week the children have been busy creating beautiful cards for their families and today we were SO excited to have a visit from a very special guest🎅🏼 smiles all around!
Today in Year 2 we went on a super school trip to the Thackray Medical Museum! This was part of our learning about ‘Medical Marvels’ including Florence Nightingale and Mary Seacole. 🏥 @ElementsSchool
Today in PE, Year 2 worked hard to develop their control and aim when throwing as part of our new unit ‘Throw, Prepare, Catch’. It was fantastic to see them taking greater autonomy in using the STEP principle to increase the challenge! @PlatformEducat1
As a hook to our new learning about instruction writing in English, Year 2 had so much fun today using their imagination to create their own magic potions! @MissEmilyWade @ElementsSchool
Our new unit in PE this half term is called Throw, Prepare, Catch. Today, we focussed on throwing; thinking about different ways of throwing and using the STEP principle to independently make choices about how we can increase or decrease the challenge!😊 @PlatformEducat1
A huge thank you to @ArtFormsLeeds for another brilliant staff meeting! Together we explored painting as a process in the Art & Design curriculum and looked at skill progression from EYFS to Year 6. @ElementsSchool@CarrieG19353333
Tonight we enjoyed another fantastic staff training session with @ArtFormsLeeds, this time thinking about drawing as a process in the Art and Design curriculum! @ElementsSchool@CarrieG19353333
What a pleasure to have @dannydeeptown in school this morning to meet the children who have produced art for our stairwell. He was blown away with their pieces and very happy with how the stairwell looks. Another first for Elements...Our own art gallery.
Year 2 had so much fun as part of #WowWednesday building our skills in ‘Look, Run, Avoid’. The children worked brilliantly in teams to think of ways to avoid the hyenas by moving into space, changing speed and direction. Thank you @PlatformEducat1! 😃
Excel class @ElementsSchool were absolutely thrilled to be the winners of our daily dash challenge for National Sports Week. Altogether they achieved an incredible 1011 laps of the playground! 🏃♀️
Year 3 LOVED turning the classroom around & becoming cave artists for the afternoon. They used natural materials such as chalk and crushed berries to paint various animals, hunters, weapons and to make hand prints🤩
