A US paedophile diplomat working at the US Embassy was secretly removed from the UK after US authorities raided his flat in Putney, South London, and found indecent images of children.

Despite having no legal power of arrest in the UK, US officials took him by military convoy to RAF Fairford, flew him out on a chartered Boeing 747, and took him to a US military base in Delaware.

The Metropolitan Police were only informed after he had left the country.
