My degree got me a barista apron and a life where customer tips decide if I get to eat during week three. Full-time work was supposed to mean you show up, you do your shift, and you get to survive. Instead, rent takes the big half, groceries take whatever is left, and the whole check is gone before the month is even half over.

To make it better, my manager tells me to "budget better" while cutting my schedule to 22 hours a week. Nobody is buying too much avocado toast or iced coffee here.

My son (21) has a childhood friend who’s been living with us for the past 8 months or so after this mom kicked him out. The new generation sees luxury in owning a new iPhone, the latest clothes, and eating in 4 seasons.

My generation saw luxury by just going out for dinner at McDonalds.

Basically, we grew up appreciative and grateful with the small things in life, hence i pity this new generation. Not entirely their fault for sure, but knowing to be grateful brings you a lot in life.
