I have a modest sized tiktok account. I usually get 150 to 300 views and a handful of engagements per post. I found this booktok marketing expert that makes suggestions on videos to post, sonI was like, "sure, why not give one of her ideas a try". I posted as she recommended this morning. 0 views, not 0 engagement, 0 views. I got more views on my very first post when I only had 6 followers. Thank you, booktok "expert"...

I don't like and don't do review swaps.

I want people to read my books because they are genuinely interested in them, not because they feel obliged to. I want to read the books I feel like reading and not the ones I am "forced" to read. I want honest reviews—not five-star reviews that were left because the author was afraid of being honest due the swap.

But more importantly, I'm scared to death of Amazon's rules regarding review swaps. I'm afraid of my account being suspended or deleted. I'm terrified of waking up and seeing my life's work no longer available. I know authors who had this happen, and I don't want to ever experience this.

I don't do book swaps, and I won't buy your book out of sympathy because you bought mine. I only buy the books I want to read and leave honest reviews.

I'm 100 pages into copying out my favorite book word for word in my notes.

It's already been a rewarding exercise.

I plan to do the whole thing.

I've found this method, copywork, is one of the best for getting my own prose closer to where I want it to be.

It also helps me avoid picking up bad habits from other books I'm reading, letting me still read broadly while counteracting elements I'd rather not emulate (it's amazing how what you read slips into the way you write if you're not careful).

Highly recommend trying even just a page or two from your favorite authors.

So worth it.
