I made this tweet when I saw the line up.

I always say I’m not a coach, but I watch so many games and I can give factual opinions on things I have seen with my eyes.

Firstly, Koulibaly is a disaster. It was a no brainer, he should not be starting. He caused all 3 goals, heavily involved in all of them. That brother can’t even run anymore, it’s so obvious, only Thiaw can’t see it.

Secondly, Mbaye or Ndiaye have to start. In the game against France, Mbaye was the spark he needed. I would have expected him to be bold enough to start that boy today. He came in and changed the game for them yet again.

I know Senegal do not have a proper 9, which is what I was saying yesterday also. Aside Saibari, who isn’t even a 9, no African team has an elite striker, and that’s our problem. Nicholas Jackson should never be starting. I’d prefer Sarr upfront and Mbaye or Iliman on the wings.

Pathe Ciss had a great season. I cannot believe he’s sitting on the bench. He should have a place in that midfield and I don’t care who sits on the bench, or play him at CB. He played CB for Vallecano severally also. Ciss makes the game flow, he’s a fantastic passer of the ball, he dictates play, very technical player, but for whatsoever reason, coach doesn’t like him.

Lastly, Iliman Ndiaye has just sat on the bench for 90mins in a Senegal team while Jackson played the whole game. I mean, there were 5 changes, and Thiaw is telling us that there is no place for Ndiaye, top 2 dribblers in the premier league, bringing some unpredictability and some joy to the team. It’s just embarrassing.

Pape Thiaw has killed Senegal. He should be sacked after the tournament. He has just wasted arguably the best team in Africa at the highest level.
