What a lovely afternoon as Beech Class got to enjoy some downtime and express their love of reading during our independent reading time! Itโs been fantastic hearing how far children have come with their fluency and prosody! ๐
Beech class have had fun making their own step by step picture instructions to create their own Lego pieces! They worked well in partners to see if they could follow the correct instructions by using trial and error. Great work, Beech class!
The children have been practicing their jumping skills in PE today. They hopped, jumped on alternating legs and jumped using both legs, all while remembering to use their arms and bend their knees! ๐โโ๏ธ
In Maths today, Year One began looking at making halves to start off our fractions unit. The children began by folding shapes into half and then cutting them. We ended the lesson by muddling up all of the halves and seeing if they could find a matching pair! ๐ฅ๐ฅ
What an exciting day itโs been for Beech Class! Today the children got to ride a horse as part of their 11B411 experience and what a great success it was! ๐ด๐ A huge thank you to @pta_green for contributing to this trip โค๏ธโค๏ธ
๐ฑEARTH WEEK ๐ As part of our science unit about plants, and linking to our Earth Week efforts, the Year 1 classes scattered some wildflower seeds today to give back to our environment. The children had so much to say about plants and their growth! #LimitlessLearning
Today in maths, the children had a look at making equal groups. They worked with their talk partners to read instruction cards and created representations on their whiteboards before counting in mostly 2s, 5s and 10s to find out how many we have altogether! ๐๏ธ
Beech Class put their whispering voices on today as they shared the love of reading during our independent reading time. Todayโs focus was on โprosodyโ and it was lovely to hear some of the fantastic progress! ๐
Itโs been a busy first day back in Year One! In English, the children have been using their infer skills to write a setting description and think about who may live in the house based on what they can see. This was part of our hook lesson for our new focus on โWarning Talesโ.
Rounding off a term filled with algorithms, errors, debugging and Beebots in Computing with a little partner challenge! Beech class used their computing knowledge to navigate their Beebots around the mat before swapping with partners to see if they can do it quicker! ๐ฎ
In todays Geography lesson, the children explored some special places in the southern hemisphere. They used aerial photographs to identify human and physical geographical features! ๐๐๏ธ
How can we care for our planet? Today in Science, Beech class came up with a list of different ways that we could care for our planet. Each child contributed what they would like to do and we created a giant class list! ๐โค๏ธ
Today in computing, the children used the Beebots to follow and debug an algorithm. They had to follow a set of instructions, find the problem and debug it! ๐ง
In English today, the children had a look at the key features of a non-chronological report. Over the next two weeks, the Year Oneโs will be focussing on animal fact files leading up to writing their own! ๐ฆ๐
