In the #Iran context, the president knows how to manipulate the media with direct access to him, offering exclusives, causing diversion, while providing cover for Israel to strike and keeping the Iranians off-guard. In sum, it preserves the element of surprise while offering the U.S. deniability.

But it appears to be fully coordinated. Israel is trying to send a deterrent message while providing Tehran with an off-ramp.
