When we proposed GENGE as the name for the Kenyan urban sound, many short sighted artists thought we Calif wanted them to switch up and sound like us but NO, when we suggested GENGE we clearly knew everyone is doing his/her thing, so the whole idea was every Kenyan artist be under one umbrella GENGE so we can have different names e.g Genge-pop, Genge-afro etc (ni majina nimefikiria tu sai kwa kichwa) same way in HipHop we have BoomBap,GFunk,Crunk etc but they are all under one umbrella HIPHOP, that was the whole idea jamaa wangeshika hii concept tungekua way ahead than mahali tuko hapa saa hii anyway GENGE iko #GRAMMYs and Iam happy!!!
