The same BBC that refused to apologise for saying the N-word in a news report, thinks it has the right to censor or even fire Gary Lineker for his political views, in the name of political sensitivity.
Give me a break!!!
#ImWithGary
He can comment on human rights in Qatar whilst presenting the BBC’s coverage of the World Cup but he can’t comment on the state of his OWN country’s government for himself.
How does that balance up, then? https://t.co/BhovYHJqg9
WTF? *Please* BBC, stop capitulating to this cynical, divisive, populist Tory Government - stop letting yourselves be used to stoke these culture wars https://t.co/zwlymnRhbv
This clip of Gary Lineker from 2021 feels relevant to where we are now. He outlines his interest in 'refugee issues', how he considers himself a freelancer, how Tim Davie's never called to say 'you can't tweet that' - and that he doesn't think 'they could do that anyway'.
Gary Lineker has been consistent in support of how Britain has been strengthened and enriched by refugees. Here is a film he made for @RESCUEorg two years ago https://t.co/VAxTshsdBY
Labour: “The BBC’s cowardly decision to take Gary Lineker off air is an assault on free speech in the face of political pressure. Tory politicians lobbying to get people sacked for disagreeing with Government policies should be laughed at, not pandered to. BBC should rethink.”
@campbellclaret’s righteous indignation: “This isn't about Gary Lineker this is about whether we, as a country, understand the seeds that are being sown by this authoritarian right wing government that now has got a grip of the conservative party and a grip of this government. 1/
The BBC have suspended Gary Lineker until he apologies and agrees not to post anything critical about the Government on Social Media.
If you stand with Gary Lineker against the Government and the BBC. RT and Like this post to show your support for him.
