The first official visit of The Regenaissance Farm & Ranch tour has come to a close and what a great first visit it was! I cannot wait to share with ya’ll all the incredible work Greg and his son Evan are doing. Couldn’t have picked a better place to start this trip on.
Alex Bates from Chapel Ford Farms stopped by this morning. I bet you’ll hear him on Barn Talk podcast soon. He has a farm and usda processing plant in Pennsylvania near DC.
Our sheep are on daily moves at the solar site. Their daily paddock is about 6 to 10 acres. They are doing a fabulous job of vegetation management, having a lot of lambs, and the lambs are growing like weeds.
Finished up Fort Wayne deliveries. Headed to DC for the afternoon. Will be speaking at an event at Russell Senate building with Senator Markey on local food procurement bill.
Headed home. Productive trip. Big and engaged group of staffers at the Russell Senate Building for the event. Met a couple congressmen. Met with couple Ag committee staffers after event. Dinner with Food Workers Union.
Time enough on the connection in O Hare on way home from DC to get our chorizo at Frontera.
Appropriate for a trip home from speaking on local government procurement.
Rick could teach them local!

@biosteward@GGunthorp USDA could purchase some local at or near break even. It would be a huge economic boost as well as risk reduction for local processing and therefore drastically enhance resiliency of the food supply.
Beautiful evening under the stars, roasting a pig, at Ruoff Music Theatre for the VIP @FarmAid . Pig is coming along perfect.
Did I mention I’m still in the clouds….I got the Spirit of Farm Aid farmer award last night personally signed by Willie?
Ran into the USDA Farm Service Agency administrator in Indianapolis today.
@MikeCallicrate and I told him us non-crop farmers would love to be customers.
