Gautam Gambhir is getting a lot of hate and honestly, some of it is fair. But our players deserve blame too. The batting has been terrible. It looks like we’ve completely forgotten how to play spin. We used to be so good at it, and now everyone just throws their wicket away.

People are shouting at Gambhir, but what exactly is the batting coach doing? And what is Ajit Agarkar doing? After the New Zealand home loss, Rohit and Kohli took all the blame, but the rest of the batters didn’t do anything either. They were just saved because it’s easy to target the big names. Now they aren’t here, so fans can’t use them as shields.

The truth is simple: even if a new coach comes and picks the right team, it won’t matter if our batters still can’t play spin. And constantly changing batting positions makes it worse. You can’t push someone from No. 7 or 8 to No. 3 and expect magic.

India has a lot to fix, proper roles, proper positions, and proper selections. For example, Nitish is called an all-rounder but bowls only four overs. Washi is picked as a spin all-rounder but hardly bowls. If you want batting depth, choose specialist batters. If you want bowling strength, choose specific bowlers.

Right now everything looks confused, and until that changes, the results won’t either.
